Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar became household names with the TLC series “19 Kids and Counting.” But these days, they might need a new show with a new title. The controversial couple has officially welcomed more grandchildren than children. With many of their 19 children now married and raising large families of their own, the Duggar legacy is expanding faster than ever.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s Kids Are Now Parents — And In Some Cases, Parents of Many
Starting with the eldest, Josh Duggar has seven children with wife Anna, while Jessa Duggar Seewald is currently pregnant with baby number six. Others, like Jill, Jinger, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, and Jeremiah, have each welcomed multiple children in recent years.
Among the notable numbers:
- Josh and Anna Duggar: 7 kids
- Jessa and Ben Seewald: 5 kids, 6th on the way
- Jill and Derick Dillard: 3 sons
- Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo: 3 children
- John David, Joy-Anna, Joseph, Josiah, Jed, and Jeremiah: All have started families of their own, many with two or more kids.
According to Jinger, as of April 2025, the Duggar grandchildren total sat at 37 and counting. Jeremiah Duggar and his wife welcomed another baby in May. There’s also the fact that some births have not been publicly acknowledged. No matter what the exact total is, Jim Bob and Michelle have way more grandkids than kids.
Michelle Has Been at Nearly Every Grandchild’s Birth
Despite their famously strict lifestyle and public controversies, Michelle Duggar has stayed deeply involved in her children’s lives — especially during major milestones like childbirth.
During an April episode of “The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast,” Jinger revealed that her mom has been at nearly every grandchild’s birth. Michelle was present for all three of Jinger’s deliveries, including the arrival of her third child, Finnegan, in March 2025.
“I think that she’s only missed two,” Jinger said. “But each of ours she’s been there. Finn is grandbaby number 37 for my parents — and that is insane to think about.”
Jeremy added that Michelle is more than just a supportive visitor. She is hands-on, and gets up early every day so the parents can rest.
“She came a week before, she stayed a week and a half after, and she’s fully committed,” he said. “She comes and serves.”
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s Legacy Keeps Growing
The Duggar children — Jana, John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace, and Josie — were all raised under the teachings of the conservative Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP).
Many of their adult children have walked away from that extreme lifestyle and have forged their own paths, while continuing the large-family tradition. There are still eight more “little” Duggars who have yet to court, marry, and start families, so that grandbaby count for Jim Bob and Michelle will continue to grow for years to come.
