Brandon Blackstock’s Passing May Cause Delay of ‘The Voice’: REPORT

As details continue to emerge about the death of Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, music mogul Brandon Blackstock, some are starting to question what impact the shocking news will have on the next two seasons of “The Voice.”

Brandon passed away August 7 of cancer, just one day after Kelly Clarkson canceled shows in her Las Vegas residency, explaining that Blackstock was sick and she needed to be there for their two kids, 11-year-old River Rose and 9-year-old Remi.

Now industry insiders point out that scheduled filming for upcoming episodes of both season 28 and season 29 of “The Voice” are also being impacted.

According to Just Jared and imdb, Reba McEntire, who is Blackstock’s former stepmother, is in the middle of taping “Battle Rounds” for season 28. And inside sources say she hasn’t been attending tapings this week “for obvious reasons” according to the Sun.

Reba had been posting pictures on Instagram from the set of “The Voice.” Just Jared says ticket site 1iota lists show tickets for multiple tapings on Friday, August 8. Those start at at 9:45am, with the last scheduled taping at 7:00 p.m.

Reba McEntire became Brandon’s stepmom in 1989 when he was just 13-years old.

The Voice judge and country icon was married to Brandon’s dad Narvel Blackstock until 2015.

Kelly Clarkson Is Scheduled to Begin Filming ‘The Voice’ This Month

In addition to possible postponements to give Reba McEntire time to grieve, Brandon Blackstock’s ex-wife Kelly Clarkson was also set to begin filming season 29 of “The Voice” later this month.

But according the US Sun, she will now miss the first few tapings to be with her children.

According to Just Jared, season 29, which is titled “The Voice: Battle of Champions” is set to begin soon. Filming Battle Rounds is currently scheduled for August 21 and August 22. And Knockouts Rounds are scheduled for September 5 and September 6.

Inside sources say other A-list stars will be tapped to fill in for Kelly, according to the Sun, suggesting Miley Cyrus and Kelsea Ballerini among those being considered.

Kelly has canceled the remainder of her August Las Vegas residency dates.

Fans Support Kelly Clarkson’s Decision to Postpone Vegas Shows

In an Instagram post the day before Brandon Blackstock’s death, Kelly Clarkson wrote, “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas.

While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.

I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”

Fans have been quick to voice their support for that decision.

One commented, “Family first. Praying for recovery and peace 🫶 We will miss the show but hopefully can still make it for the reschedule!”

Another wrote, “Family first. Was so excited to be there next Friday. And I’ll be back when you re schedule. 🙏❤️🙏”

Still another offered, “Love you. Take care of your family. We will ALWAYS be here for you 💙”

Celebrity friends also offered encouragement. Singer Debbie Gibson wrote, “Priorities ❤️ Sending love to you and your family.” And singer and actress Rita Wilson commenting, “Love you, Kelly. ❤️”
