Close to a year before Los Angeles welcomes the FIFA World Cup in June 2026, Snoop Dogg is already rallying his fellow Angelenos to get pumped up in a promotional video. The rapper and coach on “The Voice” has been named the official Community Chairman for the Los Angeles Host Committee.

According to press materials distributed on August 12, 2025, Snoop will be highly visible before and during the global tournament, with eight soccer matches to take place at SoFi Stadium.

“This isn’t just any tournament,” the Los Angeles native said in an announcement video. “This is the biggest event on the planet and it’s coming to our city.”

Snoop Dogg Says He’ll Make Sure ‘L.A. is Ready to Show Up’ for World Cup

Snoop Dogg recorded a video announcing his involvement with the FIFA World Cup.

As the Community Chairman for the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee, Snoop will work closely with the events team, inspiring “countless Angelenos and fans of the global game” as part of “this once-in-a-generation moment,” per a press release.

“L.A.’s ready to show up with that signature style, culture, and love for the beautiful game,” Snoop said in a video announcing his new role. “I’m here to make sure that the whole world has a great experience in our city and everyone in our community gets the chance to participate.”

Officials said Snoop will “represent the tournament at community engagement and legacy programs,” including cheering on the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) in their first match on June 12.

This isn’t Snoop’s first time representing the U.S. for a global sporting event. In 2024, he was an official torchbearer during the opening ceremony of the Paris Summer Olympics. He also served as a special Olympics correspondent for NBC, reporting in primetime from a wide variety of events with his signature enthusiasm and humor.

Snoop was so visible during the Olympics that the BBC dubbed him “America’s cheerleader.”
