In the emotional tribute, Savannah reflected on her father’s faith, legacy, and their profound connection as father and daughter.
Savannah Blackstock Remembers Dad Brandon Blackstock
Savannah, 23, shared a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday, Aug. 19, just days after Blackstock’s passing from melanoma on Aug. 7. Brandon, who previously managed Kelly Clarkson, shared Savannah and son Seth, 18, with his first wife Melissa Ashworth. He later married Clarkson, with whom he welcomed daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9.
“My daddy never fell short of making my dreams come true,” Savannah wrote. “No matter how high or how far, he made a way. Not only did he make my dreams come true, he chased them with me. Worldwide he was there, my biggest cheerleader. He is my best friend, my voice of reason, and my favorite phone call every day.
In the post, Savannah revealed that in the six months leading up to his death, she and her father developed a deeper spiritual connection.
“He always loved the Lord, but 6 months ago he sought the Lord,” she shared. “He was hungry for the word and we did it together. He’s gifted me more than I could’ve asked for and deserved throughout my life, but 12 days ago he blessed me the most valuable gift I could’ve asked for. The gift of knowing where he is today, in Heaven with our Savior.”
She continued: “I lost a piece of my heart and my favorite Cowboy, but Heaven gained an angel. I’m so thankful for the time I did have and I can’t wait for eternity. I love you daddy and I will miss you indefinitely. Enjoy your ranch up there, God designed it with your heart’s desires in mind.”
Her post included photos of herself with her father, images of Brandon with her siblings, and pictures of her own young son, Lake. Just weeks before his passing, Savannah announced she is expecting another child with her husband, Quentin Lee.
Family Tributes From Reba McEntire & Shelby Blackstock
Brandon’s younger brother, Shelby Blackstock, also spoke out following the loss. Shelby, 35, who is the son of Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock, honored him in a moving Instagram tribute on Aug. 8.
“Words cannot begin to capture the tremendous loss our family has endured,” he wrote. “Yesterday, we lost a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a son. Brandon Blackstock was an irreplaceable part of our family — funny, bright, and full of life — and he will be deeply missed. He taught me so much, leaving behind countless cherished memories that I will hold onto forever.”
McEntire, 70, commented on her son’s post, writing, “Very well said Shelby. Yes we will miss him so much 💔💔🙏💔❤️❤️❤️🙏💔.”
“The Voice” coach also shared her own tribute on Aug. 12, posting photos with Brandon. “Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God. His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence,” McEntire wrote.
“There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together,” she added. “His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”
