Reba McEntire’s Heartfelt Tribute to Stepson Brandon Blackstock: PHOTOS

Reba McEntire is breaking her silence after the loss of her stepson Brandon Blackstock with an emotional social media post. “The Voice” coach took to Instagram to post a loving tribute to Blackstock, which included a series of pictures.

“Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God,” McEntire captioned the post. “His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence. There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together.”

The country star concluded on an emotional note. “His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again,” she wrote.

McEntire included photos of her and Blackstock together looking happy, dressed for a formal event, going fishing, and even petting a chicken.

Blackstock was the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson and the father of their two children River, 11, and Remington, 9. He tragically passed away on August 9 at the age of 48. Blackstock battled melanoma for three years before his passing.

Reba McEntire’s Other Comments About Her Stepson

Earlier today, McEntire also spoke out about Blackstock’s passing in a comment on her son Shelby Blackstock’s Instagram post honoring his half brother. Shelby’s post included a carousel of photos featuring the family in happier times, and the caption was heartbreaking.

“For every treasured moment we shared, there are so many more we’ll never get to make together, but I know you’ll still be there,” he wrote, in part. “Every hunt, every flight, and in the everyday moments of life, I’ll feel your presence.”

McEntire commented, “Very well said Shelby. Yes we will miss him so much.💔💔🙏💔❤️❤️❤️🙏💔”

McEntire & Kelly Clarkson Share a Strong Bond

McEntire was married to Blackstock’s father Narvel from 1989 until 2015. Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot in 2013, and their divorce was finalized in 2022. McEntire and Clarkson had been friends before they became family, and McEntire made it clear that she supported both her stepson as well as Clarkson amid their split.

“You know, I love them both, Brandon’s my stepson, Kelly’s my good friend and I’m pulling for both of them,” McEntire shared during a 2021 interview with Extra. “I hope they’re happy and healthy and pull through this.”

Clarkson postponed her Las Vegas residency just one day prior to Blackstock’s passing. “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” the singer announced in an post on Instagram.
