When she’s not writing and performing smash hits or coaching contestants on “The Voice,” you might find country star Kelsea Ballerini “bringing joy and brightness” to pediatric hospital patients.
That’s how Musicians On Call described the superstar’s efforts in a social media post on June 29, 2025, as the nonprofit organization released a sweet video of Ballerini singing Justin Bieber’s hit song “Baby” alongside a little girl in her hospital bed.
Musicians On Call captioned the touching video, “Huge thanks to @kelseaballerini for bringing joy and brightness to patients by playing their favorite songs 🎶💛 Your talent brings smiles to many!”
Kelsea Ballerini Says It’s Been ‘Really Sweet’ to Be Part of Musicians On Call
In the featured video, a young patient sat in her hospital bed holding a large stuffed, pink heart. Ballerini could be seen in the video wearing a medical mask, belting out the lyrics to “Baby” as someone accompanied on acoustic guitar, and pretended she had a microphone to signal for her new friend to sing along to the chorus.
The footage was filmed during Ballerini’s visit to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in April, with snippets of her day there with Musicians On Call shared on social media. Ballerini’s been active with the organization since it started in 2016, devoted to “bringing live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients, family members, and caregivers.”
In a video posted in April, she said, “I remember being here in 2016, launching Musicians On Call here in Phoenix. It’s beautiful to be alongside a program that’s bringing music to people that really need it. It’s been really sweet to be a part of this for almost 10 years now.”
Kelsea Ballerini Calls Music is ‘Medicinal’ & ‘Healing’
While visiting Phoenix Children’s Hospital, in between coaching her team on season 27 of “The Voice,” Ballerini sat with young patients, gave some guidance on playing the guitar, chatted about music, and sang favorite songs with others.
“Anyone who loves music, whether you sing or play an instrument or whatever, we get into it because we feel inspired by it,” Ballerini said during the April video that Musicans On Call shared. “And we feel connected to ourselves and other people through it. I think it’s one of the most medicinal, healing things in the whole world, and it’s universal in that.”
Ballerini continued, “I think (this is) a way that we can help even for five minutes, you know, these kids or their families, (to) just have a little bit of lightness in their day and escapism if that’s what they need, or a jam sesh if that’s what they need. I just think it’s a beautiful way to let music be what music is, which is powerful.”
Other star musicians who’ve visited hospital patients through Musicians On Call, according to its Instagram feed, have included Ballerini’s “Cowboys Cry Too” duet partner Noah Kahan, Charles Esten, Menudo, Julia Cole, Jax, Darius Rucker, Lady A, and Scotty McCreery.
