Will Blake Shelton Return to ‘The Voice’?

Blake Shelton returns to “The Voice” in Season 27 for one very special performance. It was announced that the former coach would perform onstage during the finale. This event marks the first time Shelton returns to the show since leaving in 2023 (and serving as a coach for 23 seasons), and Deadline reports that he will perform his new single, “Texas,” from his latest album, “For Recreational Use Only.”

Many fans have been eager to see Shelton return, but one person has claimed he does not want the country singer to return, and that person is Adam Levine!

Even so, on the season 27 finale of the show, host Carson Daly asked Levine if Shelton would ever return to the show and Levine said, “Yeah, that would be great!” He did say it may take some convincing though …

Blake Shelton Returns to ‘The Voice’ Stage

Levine shared his thoughts after learning that Shelton would return to “The Voice” stage to perform. “You hear me, Blake Shelton? Right now, you hear me at home? I’m not excited that you’re coming back and I don’t like you,” he jokingly told E! News on May 12. Fans of the show will know that Shelton and Levine often make jokes like this, and his response is predictable and perfectly fits in with the brotherly banter they so frequently engaged in when they were both coaches.

Other performances from famous faces during the “The Voice” finale include Kelly Clarkson, who will sing her new song, “Where Have You Been.” E! News reports that Joe Jonas will sing his latest single, “Heart by Heart,” and Foreigner will perform several of their most popular tunes.

Why Did Blake Shelton Leave ‘The Voice?’

Shelton enjoyed his time on “The Voice” but left to spend more time with his wife, Gwen Stefani. “I did 23 seasons of the show and I enjoyed it, and by the time I got to that last season, it was time,” Shelton told E! News in April 2024. “I needed to get back to what my day job was anyway, which is, you know, being a country singer.”

Still, it is a role that will always be important to Shelton, which is likely why he agreed to return. “I don’t mean to sound like I’m not a part of the family anymore,” he explained. “It was the most important years of my life where I was a coach on ‘The Voice.’ But as far as the job goes, I don’t think I’m ever ready to do that again as I sit here now.”

Shelton has been promoting his new work on Instagram, including sharing a post on May 19 about the track, “Hangin’ On,” which he created with Stefani. On May 18, he shared a video clip on Instagram of his album release in New York City. Fans reacted to the post with messages of support.

“Been listening to the album every day! It’s sooo good!!! Loving all the promo interviews, keep it coming,” a fan commented. “So great to see you back in TV again! Love the album, it’s (fire),” another shared.
