A former coach from “The Voice” received a couple of incredible surprises as her latest project soared in popularity. Ariana Grande’s new film “Wicked” has become a box office sensation, and she got emotional over some recent surprises she received related to the movie.
Kristin Chenoweth Gifted Ariana Grande Custom Jackets
On December 2, Kristin Chenoweth shared photos from one sweet surprise on her Instagram page.
“Leading my babygirl down the yellow brick road,” Chenoweth wrote. She explained she surprised Grande with matching pink jackets on the set of “Wicked” during filming.
“A little physical memento of our ‘passing of the wand,'” Chenoweth shared.
She added, “I’ll lead you down any road you let me, Ari. I’m so so proud of you baby.”
As Us Weekly noted, Chenoweth played the role of Glinda in the Broadway production of “Wicked” in 2003 and 2004. Now, Grande takes over as Glinda in the film version.
Grande commented on Chenoweth’s post. “my entire heart 🫧 thank you for your thoughtfulness, generosity and support ♡ my Glinda,” she wrote. She also added, “I love you always.”
Us Weekly shared that Grande first met Chenowith during that Broadway run. Grande was just 10 years old at the time.
“This is so full circle I’m so emotional. I love you both so much,” a fan commented.
Another fan wrote, “So incredibly special. She was magnificent just like you!”
Grande Got to Hold the Original Glinda Wand
Another surprise Grande recently received came during the December 5 appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show.” The moment left Grande speechless.
Barrymore told Grande she had a surprise for her, and noted it was something that used to be in the Smithsonian. It now was privately owned, and the show managed to borrow it for Grande’s episode.
Then, the original Glinda wand from “The Wizard of Oz” was brought out and handed to Grande. She couldn’t speak at first, simply holding her hand to her mouth as she tried to get over her shock.
Grande then jokingly pretended she was taking the wand and heading home. She held the wand as the interview continued, clearly tickled pink to have such a rare opportunity.
“That’s actually so sweet. Her genuine emotion came out, that’s really touching,” one fan commented on the Instagram page for Barrymore’s show.
“How one small gesture can make an impact and wonderful memory. Very touching of Drew and the show to have done that for Ariana,” another fan wrote.
“Some people don’t realize how much this meant to her. glinda has been her dream role for a very long time and she has so much appreciation for the glinda’s that paved the way before her,” shared someone else.
“I’m literally sobbing how happy I am,” added a different Instagram user.
