Nicole Scherzinger is reflecting on her final project with Liam Payne, Netflix’s “Building the Band”, which she says is now dedicated to his memory. Payne, the former ‘One Direction star’, tragically passed away in 2023 at the age of 31 following an accident in Argentina.

While appearing on “The View“, Scherzinger grew emotional as she spoke about Payne’s final appearance on the show. She recalled that he had a beautiful heart and a way of smiling with his eyes that lit up every room. She said having Liam on set was incredibly special and that his presence left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
Scherzinger echoed those sentiments during an appearance on “The Seth Meyers Show”, saying she was proud to have worked with him one last time. She added he genuinely believed in the aspiring artists featured in the series.
“We’ve dedicated the show to Liam. We’re so proud of him,” Nicole said. “He had such an amazing time. We had so much fun doing the show together, and he’s such a beautiful, kind soul and heart.”
A Full-Circle Moment for Nicole & Liam

Nicole and Liam’s relationship dates back to “The X Factor”, where Payne originally auditioned as a solo act before being grouped into “One Direction”. Nicole reflected on how meaningful it was to work with him again on Building the Band.
“We’ve come full circle. I mean, especially with Liam and I from X Factor to One Direction and he’s walked this path,” she said. “He’s the perfect person to be able to help people in this way, to be able to give back, and he loved it.”
Nicole also emphasized that the team behind the show wouldn’t have moved forward without the blessing of Liam’s family.

In 2022, a resurfaced ‘X Factor’ clip went viral, finally crediting Nicole as the force behind the formation of ‘One Direction’.
Appearing on Sherri, she expressed surprise that the footage still existed and shared that her experience with ‘The Pussycat Dolls’ helped her spot the potential in uniting Liam, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan. According to E! Online, she described it as a meaningful and rewarding moment in her career.
