Meghan Markle Returned To Immaculate Heart Academy In 2022
For a 2022 episode of her “Archetypes” podcast, Markle paid a visit to Immaculate Heart Academy, where she even stopped by her old locker.
“You’ve heard me talk about Immaculate Heart on the series before and the influence it’s had on my life. And look I was there from ages, about 12 to 17 which are really formative years in your life – they certainly were for me,” she said on the podcast, according to People. “And let me just say, being back there, the energy, it was, it was palpable. I was happy to be back there, and it was also really fun — especially when I made a surprise visit and I popped into some of the young ladies in volleyball practice.”
The mother of two also made a surprise commencement speech to her former high school in 2020. In her remarks, Markle addressed the civil unrest in the wake of George Floyd’s murder that same year.
“You are going to lead with love, you are going to lead with compassion, you are going to use your voice,” she said, according to Us Weekly.
She continued, “You are going to have empathy for those who don’t see the world through the same lens that you do, because with as diverse and vibrant and open-minded as I know the teachings at Immaculate Heart are, I know you know that black lives matter. So I am already excited for what you are going to do in the world. You are equipped, you are ready, we need you, and you are prepared. I am so proud to call each of you a fellow alumni.”
