Jesse Palmer Says Matt James & Rachael Kirkconnell Could Return to ‘The Bachelor’

“Bachelor” host Jesse Palmer says Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell could potentially return to “The Bachelor” some day.

In an exclusive interview with US Weekly, Palmer was asked whether “they could hand out (or accept) roses again one day,” now that the couple has broken up. James and Kirkconnell met on the show when James was “The Bachelor.”

“I think it’s open,” Palmer told the magazine. “First off, I was really sad to read that and see that as well. And I certainly hope they’re both doing OK. This must be a really, really tough time for the two of them. And I know they want [and] are going to need time to process everything that happened.”

According to Palmer, either one of the two, or both, would be welcome back on the show.

“I think the last thing they wanted to think about is rushing back into the show,” Palmer told US Weekly. “These decisions go way above my head.I absolutely think, though, that the show would consider having one or both back at some point down the road if they were open to it. Absolutely.”

James announced the couple’s break-up after four years on his Instagram page.

“Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts. Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord 💔” he wrote.

Palmer also gave a positive update about “Golden Bachelorette” Joan Vassos and his fiance, Chock Chapple.

“I know they’re both very excited,” Palmer said about the potential for an upcoming wedding. “They’re enjoying each other’s company. And listen, I certainly hope wedding bells are on the horizon sooner than later, but they’ve earned this right to kind of have their time to enjoy each other and if they need an officiant, I know a guy.”

Of that couple, he added, “They’re all over. They’re in New York and then they’re visiting her family and they’re back in Kansas and they’re just all over the place. They’re a very hard Bachelor couple to keep up with, in all honesty.”
