Former ‘The Bachelorette’ Star Gets Married Amid Health Battle

It has been a very tough year for former “The Bachelorette” lead Katie Thurston, but comedian Jeff Arcuri has been by her side the entire time.

Thurston was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2025, and just over a month later, she and Arcuri have married, US Weekly reported on March 23.

The wedding took place in the couple’s backyard on Saturday, March 22.

And for Arcuri, he revealed that her diagnosis has helped bring them closer together.

“You would think it would cause more tribulation or problems between you, but it’s bonded us more than anything else, which is why we’re moving up the wedding a little bit,” Arcuri revealed to US Weekly before the ceremony. “We’re getting married in two days.”

Thurston couldn’t agree more.

“It was so sweet. Obviously, we were wanting to plan a wedding and there’s a lot of emotions that come in with chemo and the impact and the health and we don’t know what the next year looks like,” she added in the interview with US Weekly. “And one night he said, ‘I want to show you that I still love you and that I’m here to stay. I’ll get married to you tomorrow.’ We flew our parents in from Michigan and Washington State. We got our marriage license and a friend is just gonna marry us.”

Katie Thurston and Jeff Arcuri’s Relationship Timeline

Thurston first appeared on “The Bachelor” in Matt James’ season but was eliminated in Week 6. She was then named “The Bachelorette” lead for the 17th season, where she ultimately got engaged to Blake Moynes. However, the two announced their breakup in October 2021.

But, all of this allowed her to find Arcuri

The two confirmed their relationship in May 2024, doing long distance with Thurston living in Los Angeles, while Arcuri was based in New York City. They went Instagram official in June 2024.

“Safe to say he’s making it to hometowns next week ❤️,” she captioned the post.

In August 2024, Arcuri popped the question.

Thurston has since made the move to New York, and now the two are married.

Jeff Arcuri Canceled Tour Dates to be With Katie Thurston

Just a few days after Thurston announced her breast cancer diagnosis, Arcuri took to social media saying that he was postponing his shows to be by his fiancée’s side.

“This is an incredibly challenging time for both of us, and as she embarks on this difficult journey, I’ve made the decision to be by her side every step of the way,” Arcuri wrote. “To my fans in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan: I regret to inform you that my upcoming shows will be rescheduled. You will receive an email with all the details soon. I am so sorry I can’t be there as planned, but I hope you understand that my family will always come first.”
