Former “Teen Mom OG” personality Bristol Palin celebrated her eldest child, Tripp Johnston’s 16th birthday, in a heartfelt Instagram post.
The January 5 Instagram post featured several pictures of Tripp, fathered by her ex-fiancé Levi Johnston, throughout his life.
In the caption of the post, Palin noted that Tripp’s birthday is on January 4.
“day late, dollar short – but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to hard post a sweet 16 to my son @tripp.easton (cannot wrap my head around the fact that he is 16!!),” wrote Palin.
In addition, Palin said that her son “has changed [her] world for the absolute better since the second [she] heard his heartbeat.”
“I am constantly humbled thinking about how incredible it is to be his mama. We’ve grown up together and despite my short comings as a young mom, he truly has grown into such an amazing young man – it blows me away!!” continued Palin.
In addition, she described her son as “kind, adventurous, nurturing, smart and works hard at everything he sets his mind to.”

Bristol Palin Shared Her Son Is Living With His Father in August 2024
People magazine reported that Palin, a Texas resident, shared that Tripp has opted to reside with his father in an August 2024 interview on the podcast “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans,” hosted by Cheryl Burke. According to Palin, who also has two daughters, Sailor, 8, and Atlee, 7, fathered by her ex-husband, Dakota Meyer, Tripp announced he would remain with his father in a text message.
“He just texted me. He’s like, ‘Hey Mom. I’m not coming back [to Texas].’ Oh, I couldn’t even believe it. At first, I’m like, ‘I’m coming up to Alaska, we’re not doing this.’ I was so mad. So mad,” said Palin on the podcast.
She said, however, that she understood Tripp’s choice to live in Johnston’s home in Alaska because he “does need his dad.”
“But kids … especially boys, they need their dads and I can’t hinder that for myself. So as hard as it is for me, and it’s so hard for my girls too, I know that he needs to grow that relationship with his dad. And he loves Alaska so much, he’s hunting and fishing all the time. So I know that it’s going to be a good thing,” said Palin during the August 2024 interview.
She clarified that her son’s choice “still is gut-wrenching to [her],” as she shares a close bond with him.
“Because it’s been just Tripp and I. And then I’ve had my girls but it’s always been Tripp and I,” said Palin.
