Taylor Swift’s seaside mansion in Rhode Island — known by fans as Holiday House — is undergoing a major transformation. The oceanfront estate in the exclusive Watch Hill neighborhood has long been one of the singer’s most iconic properties, known for its celebrity-filled Fourth of July parties and deep historical roots. Now, it’s getting a luxurious refresh with a $1.7 million renovation.
Taylor Swift’s ‘Holiday House’ Is Getting a High-End Makeover
Originally purchased in 2013 for $17.75 million in cash, Swift’s 11,000-square-foot mansion is already a stunner. The property features eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, eight fireplaces, a 36-foot parlor, and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. It also boasts 700 feet of private beachfront and an in-ground pool that’s played host to some seriously star-studded celebrations.
Now, building permits, uncovered by Realtor.com, reveal the singer is planning to add a 16-by-24-foot bedroom suite, additional bathrooms, and a completely redesigned kitchen. The renovations are estimated to cost around $1.7 million and will add about 400 square feet to the existing layout.
Work is being handled by Rhode Island-based contractor David W. Shafovaloff, a specialist in high-end residential projects. Fans have already spotted cranes and construction activity at the estate, hinting that the upgrades are well underway.
The Return of “Taymerica” Fourth of July?
Swift’s Watch Hill estate gained legendary status thanks to her famous star-studded bashes. Her Fourth of July parties are so iconic, they’ve been dubbed “Taymerica” by fans. Over the years, the home has welcomed guests like Blake Lively, Gigi Hadid, Ryan Reynolds, Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, and even Ed Sheeran, who once gave a private performance.
Matching swimsuits, themed photoshoots, and oversized pool inflatables made the events an annual highlight. But all of that was put on pause during Swift’s six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn. After their split, Swift was busy with her record-breaking Eras Tour and couldn’t host the usual festivities.
But now that the renovations are in motion — and with her relationship with Travis Kelce heating up — fans are buzzing about a possible return to Watch Hill. Swift hasn’t confirmed any party plans just yet, but the upgrades suggest something could be in the works.
Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island Home is a Place to Recharge
Swift’s connection to the Rhode Island property runs deeper than party photos. The mansion once belonged to Rebekah Harkness, a socialite whose story inspired Swift’s song “The Last Great American Dynasty.” It’s also become a personal retreat for the pop star.
According to insiders, Swift frequently returns to the home to reset between tours and public appearances. In August 2024, she reportedly spent time there with Kelce and close friends like Lively and the Mahomeses, recharging after months on the road.
“Taylor has been on tour and working nonstop, and she loves the Rhode Island house and wanted to spend some time there while the weather is still good and she can enjoy it, one source noted.
“It has felt wonderful to be grounded back home again. It’s been grounding to see friends and family and spend quality time with everyone, chat and get downloaded on everyone’s worlds because she has been so busy and disconnected.”
With renovations underway and her calendar likely opening up post-tour, it’s clear the singer plans to make even more memories at Holiday House. Fans will have to wait another year to find out whether or not that includes another splashy Fourth of July party. But either way, this seaside mansion is about to get even more iconic.
