Taylor Swift Says Goodbye at Final Night of the Eras Tour

It’s the end of the Eras Tour and Ms. Taylor Swift was not going to let the crowd forget it. During the show, Taylor made multiple references to the conclusion of her historic tour.

“You and I are about to go on one last grand adventure together,” said Swift in her opening speech.

During the piano acoustic set, Swift mashed up “Love Live” with “New Year’s Day” and “The Manuscript.” She changed a lyric in “Long Live” to sing “It was the end of an era.” The set fittingly concluded with “The story isn’t mine anymore,” from “The Manuscript.”

Before the singing the last song of the night, Taylor thanked the crowd one more time: “Vancouver, I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date, my beloved Eras Tour.”

After her final bow, instead of disappearing into the floor, she ran backstage with her dancers.

Swift wore the same outfits as Vancouver night one and night two, a departure from her usual style of switching up looks at each show.

The Swifties have been clowning for Taylor to wear a green “1989” top and skirt set. Some fans think the outfit is a clue as to when “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” will be released. For now, the fans will have to keep guessing: the green outfit did not make an appearance and there was no big announcement (like an album release date) at the last Eras Tour show.

It was rare, but Swifties were there! More than 10 million fans watched the Eras Tour in person and many more on grainy livestreams through popular streaming Swifties like Tess Bohne (via TikTok and Instagram) and Ammir Shah (via YouTube).

Throughout the tour, Swift has announced music videos for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” “I Can See You,” and “Karma.” She’s also announced her recordings of “Speak Now” and “1989.”

Swift has given fans many surprise musical guests on the tour: Sabrina Carpenter, Marcus Mumford, Maren Morris, Jack Antonoff, Ice Spice, Phoebe Bridgers, Ed Sheeran, Aaron Dessner, Florence Welch, Hayley Williams, and Gracie Abrams.

One of the most famous cameos of the tour occurred when her famous football boyfriend Travis Kelce appeared dancing on stage during the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” intro.

Attending the show has also been a popular night out for celebrities with appearances from Prince William, the band Haim, Tom Brady,  Emma Stone, Shania Twain, and Kyle Richards.

Of course, Swift never forgets about her non-famous fans, giving out the hat she wears while singing “22” to one lucky attendee each night.

The Highest Grossing Tour of All Time

Taylor Swift fans gather prior to the pop singer’s concert in front of the Veltins Arena on July 17, 2024 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. In addition to the tens of thousands of fans arriving with tickets for the show, city authorities are also expecting more without tickets.

Who knew that when we began in Glendale, Arizona, on March 17, 2023, this tour would become a worldwide phenomenon? After 149 shows in 51 cities on five continents, the highest-grossing tour of all time has come to an end. Swifties will now have to wait for the next tour announcement, which if history is any indicator, could be a while. The Eras Tour was Swift’s sixth heading tour and came five years after her Reputation tour. She had scheduled the Lover Fest tour for 2020, but it was canceled due to the pandemic.

Swift recently released  “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Book” and “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” on vinyl. Both are available to purchase exclusively through Target.
