The official cast reveal for “Survivor 50,” which dropped on CBS on Wednesday, May 28, confirmed that the forthcoming season will feature iconic former castaways like Cirie Fields, Ozzy Lusth and “Survivor 48” winner Kyle Fraser. Joining them on the cast is filmmaker and “The White Lotus” creator Mike White.
White’s Emmy Award-winning Filmmaking Career, Summed Up
Before appearing on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” in 2018, White had established himself as a prolific filmmaker, working on projects like “Chuck & Buck” and “School of Rock.” In 2000, White was awarded an Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award for his work on “Chuck & Buck.”
White has similarly received writing and producing credits for his work on projects like “Dawson’s Creek” and “Freaks and Geeks.” The Pasadena, California native has also racked up a number of acting credits, appearing in series and films like “The Good Girl,” “Orange County” and “Nacho Libre” alongside Jack Black.
In the late naughties White made his directorial debut, premiering his film “Year of the Dog” at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. He similarly joined the US Dramatic Jury at the film festival in 2009.
The filmmaker moved to HBO in 2011 when actress Laura Dern convinced him to work on the “Enlightened” series. After writing the pilot for the series, HBO similarly picked up White’s self-penned, self-directed satirical limited series “The White Lotus” in 2021. The series has since celebrated three successful seasons on HBO, featuring actors like Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Rothwell and Jon Gries.

The series has since won six primetime Emmy Awards, including accolades for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor, Outstanding Supporting Actress, Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing.
White’s Runner-Up Finish on ‘Survivor: David vs. Goliath,’ Summed Up
In addition to his filmmaking career, White has appeared on several reality competition series including “The Amazing Race” (Season 14) and “Survivor: David vs. Goliath.”
White joined the cast of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” in 2018 as a member of the Goliath tribe. After forming game-long alliances with powerful players like Nick Wilson and Angelina Keeley, the trio were eventually able to secure seats at the season’s Final Tribal Council.

Despite winning the Final Four fire-making challenge, White was unable to win over the jury in the end, with Nick Wilson emerging as the season’s victor.
White will be joined by “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” alumni Angelina Keeley and Christian Hubicki on “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans.”
