Bret LaBelle, who appeared on “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X,” announced on Instagram that he and his boyfriend, Tiktoker Chris Stanley, have decided to end their four-year relationship on Tuesday, April 29.
LaBelle and Stanley Announce Amicable Split After 4 Years
“Sometimes love means letting go,” wrote LaBelle on Instagram under a photo of himself and Stanley with their arms wrapped around each other. He added, “Chris and I have shared so many memories, laughter, and growth together, and I will always be grateful for that.”
“While our paths are not going in different directions, the care and respect remain,” the 51-year-old Boston Police Office continued. “Wishing him nothing but happiness, love, and success on his journey. Thank you for the memories.”
Stanley, popularly known by his online alias StanChris, confirmed the split in a separate Instagram post, writing, “Yes, we broke up.”

“Some good things don’t last forever, but that doesn’t make them any less special,” he added. “I’ll always be grateful for the memories and the love Bret and I shared.”
Stanley later posted a video to his YouTube channel, which boasts 469K subscribers, revealing that the pair actually parted ways “a few months ago.”
“It took a few months to reflect on everything… to decompress [and] think about what I wanted to do next,” Stanley clarified.
A Brief Timeline of LaBelle and Stanley’s Relationship
The pair began their relationship in 2020, making headlines with their 27-year age-gap. Despite scrutiny, the couple were candid about their age-difference throughout their four-year-relationship.
“Sometimes people think he’s actually my dad. Other people think I’m just with him for money,” said Stanely, now 25, in a 2023 interview with The Advocate. “They think he’s my sugar daddy, which obviously isn’t true.”
LaBelle publicly came out as gay in 2016 during his run on “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X,” following a conversation with fellow cast-away Zeke Smith.
“I didn’t grow up in a time when it was normal to talk about being day, and the millennials do not care,” said LaBella in a confessional. He added, “Zeke finds comfort in being himself, and I think that’s great. And I’m hoping that as my life goes on, from here on out, I can be that way.”
Four years later, LaBelle and Stanley commenced their relationship after they connected thanks to an Instagram message sent during the coronavirus pandemic. The two officially confirmed their relationship online in January 2023, launching a joint Instagram account — @ChrisAndBret.
