‘Drag Race’ Star Wants to Join ‘Survivor’

During a recent appearance at a New York City nightclub to promote her recently released debut memoir, “Survivor” legend Parvati Shallow joined “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Jan Sport on stage for a “Survivor”-themed drag show.

In addition to performing a re-written performance of Lady Gaga’s “Shallow” dressed as fellow “Survivor” superstar Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano, Parvati’s appearance also marked a major crossover between the two Emmy Award-winning reality TV competition series – though it wasn’t the first time “Survivor” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” have crossed paths.

Monét X Change, who appeared on Season 10 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” before returning to win Season 4 of the “All Stars” spin-off series, has always been vocal about her love for “Survivor,” and double-down on her desire to play the game during a July 11 interview with Shallow on her YouTube talk show, “Monét Talks.”

X Change Declares Plans to Audition for ‘Survivor’

Following a discussion of Parvati’s childhood spent living on a commune and her time on “The Traitors” Season 2, the duo finally turned their attention to “Survivor.” Knowing that Monét was a longtime fan of the show, Shallow asked the drag host if she’d ever consider leaving the wigs and lashes behind for a run on “Survivor.”

X Change, who made her third and final run on the all-winners “All Stars” season in 2022, is similarly set to appear on “The Traitors” Season 4, following up fellow “Drag Race” winner Bob the Drag Queen’s now-iconic performance on Season 3 earlier this year.

Addressing whether she’d complete the reality competition trifecta by joining “Survivor,” X Change said: “I think I would. I think I would do it just to prove to myself that I could do it.”

Known as Kevin Bertin out of drag, the queen added that while she has yet to apply to be a contestant on the series, she plans to send in an audition tape for Season 51 or 52.

Despite her career as one of the world’s most successful drag artists, Monét is well-prepared for everything that “Survivor” has to throw her way, because she’s played before – sort of.

X Change Has Already Prepped to Play the Game

Back in April, X Change joined a number of other social media personalities on a “Survivor” influencer event. The trip to Fiji offered its guests the opportunity to play the game for 48 hours.

Opening up about the experience, Monét told Parvati she’s more prepared than ever to take the “Survivor” by storm.

“It was the real [‘Survivor’],” said the drag star, who’d initially thought it would be scaled back for the influencers. “I mean, we had to build our own shelter. We had a…storm for the first 24 hours.”

Parvati, who’d FaceTimed with the influencer castaways during their “Survivor” experience, confirmed Monét’s claims, adding: “I had heard you guys had a rough time.”

“It was cold. It was raining. I was literally sleeping on hard bamboo and just rain pouring on me all night,” continued Monét. “It wasn’t drizzling. It was pouring rain.”

Thankfully, the influencers were spared from the worst of the “downpour” by X Change’s stellar shelter-making skills.

“Girl, I got the shelter together,” Monét boasted. “Okay? I was that girl.”

In addition to being a big help to her tribemates at camp, Monét similarly excelled in other aspects of the 48-hour game, including during run-throughs of real “Survivor” challenges.

X Change Predicts She’d Be Labeled a Social Threat

When it came to the social aspects of the game, X Change once again emerged as a star, telling Shallow, “No one wanted to send me home because I was so loveable and sweet.”

While an asset in the shortened game, X Change admitted that her likeable personality would probably make her a social threat in a real game of “Survivor,” though Shallow countered with “But you would have them wrapped around your finger by then.”

Parvati similarly revealed that even CBS were impressed by Monét’s performance during the influencer event: “I heard you were good, actually. Word on the street from the CBS crew after you played, you were very good.”

“I hope we see you on ‘Survivor,” added Shallow, a longtime “Drag Race” fan and newly-minted LGBTQ+ icon herself. During a 2024 interview with LogoTV, Shallow similarly picked X Change as one of the queer celebrities she’d want on her dream “Survivor” alliance.

Jeff Probst Already Loves Her

Longtime “Survivor” host Jeff Probst has also revealed his love for Monét, delivering a video message to the drag icon in 2023.

Ahead of the premiere of “Survivor 44,” Probst addressed X Change in a post on social media, saying, “Hey! Monét X Change! I just found out you’re a big ‘Survivor’ fan, and I just wanted to say, welcome to the ‘Survivor’ family.”

The interview also sees Probst grilling X Change on her favorite players and which challenges she’d excel in before posing the ultimate question: “Really. How would you do on the show?”

“I think I would do very well. If not win, definitely top two, for sure,” replied Monét confidently.

The two finally met in March when they appeared together on an episode of CBS’s late-night game-show “After Midnight.”

Probst Reveals the ‘Drag Race’ Star he Really Wants on ‘Survivor’

While Monét X Change has set her sights on becoming the first-ever drag queen “Survivor” castaways, Probst has his sights set on a different “Drag Race” star – RuPaul himself.

Apart from both being Emmy-nominated reality TV hosts, there’s little overlap between Probst and RuPaul, but that hasn’t stopped him from challenging the longtime “Drag Race” host to play “Survivor.”

During an interview with CBS Mornings in February, Probst revealed RuPaul as the one celebrity he’d love to see join the show in the future.

“Just bring it, Ru,” said Probst. “I see you demanding. Commanding. Your presence is huge. You’re a great producer, great on camera, great host, great personality. I wanna see you out on ‘Survivor.’ I welcome you to take on ‘Survivor.’ Anytime you want, RuPaul.”

It remains unclear as to whether RuPaul, now 64, would consider the challenge.
