July 4th weekend is a celebratory time to spend with friends, family and a body of water.
If you still want to stay on top of your watch queue, though, this list of what’s coming out has got you covered. There’s plenty of action to be had from the comfort of your couch.
Below are the shows and movies you’ll be talking about next week.
Heads of State – Prime Video
John Cena, Idris Elba and Priyanka Chopra Jonas fight bad guys while the former two are diplomats trying to keep their respective countries from breaking their bond. It’s all the action packed fun every summer blockbuster is made of except this is available to watch at home. Plus, it’s a comedic vehicle for three people who have proven themselves to be very funny. Imagine “Olympus Has Fallen” if it made you chuckle.
The Old Guard 2 – Netflix
This sequel to the 2020 movie that was based on the graphic novels from Image Comics isn’t like other superhero movies. Charlize Theron and screenwriter Greg Rucka wanted to do another one but they didn’t want to rush it. This explains why it took five years for audiences to see the movie. Fans are eager to see Theron wielding an axe while saving the world. What’s not to enjoy?
Jurassic World Rebirth – Theaters
Director Gareth Edwards takes over the franchise from Colin Trevorrow in this standalone sequel to the “World” part of the “Jurassic Park” franchise. This time, original “Jurassic Park” screenwriter David Koepp returns to put his spin on the modern day version of the movies he wrote. It’s already being lauded as more fun than the previous entries so that’s good.
Taskmaster (Series 19) – YouTube
Worldwide phenomenon “Taskmaster” ends its current, and possibly best, season this week. Comedian Jason Mantzoukas made a name for himself by being the first American to appear on the British panel game show as well as someone who is willing to destroy the famed Taskmaster house.
