Fellow professional wrestler John Cena posted a heartfelt tribute to Hulk Hogan after his passing on July 24, 2025.
John Cena Tribute to Hulk Hogan
Cena happens to be a man of few (or no) words when it comes to Instagram. He often just shares photos or memes on his official account, which is exactly what he did after the news of Hulk Hogan’s death came out.
In the post, Cena shared a photo of Hogan taking on Andre the Giant in an old WWF match, which happened to be broadcast on NBC during primetime television. Showing wrestling during the primetime hours was not common at that time, but the ratings paid off for NBC.
It was a special moment for wrestling, and Hulk Hogan was special for the WWF, so it was a great photo to choose for Cena to pay his respects.
Hogan and Cena Joined Forces
Did you know that Hulk Hogan and John Cena wrestled together at one time?
In a special video shared by WWE Vault, they showed a video where John Cena, Batista, and Hulk Hogan teamed up to take on Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, and JBL. The three-on-three matchup took place on August 8, 2005, and it was a rare dark match after Raw went off the air.
Joining Forces Outside of the Ring
Cena and Hogan also teamed up outside the ring. WrestleMania 31 was at Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2015, To help promote the event, the WWE released a special video of the wrestling duo.
In the video, Cena, the WWE Hall of Famer Hogan, and WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon toured the nearby campuses of Google, Twitter, and Facebook as part of a WrestleMania 31 Tech Tour. Needless to say, the video did not disappoint.
Ric Flair’s Special Tribute
Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan had a rivalry in the WWF. While they fought it out in the ring, the pair appeared to be friends on the outside. Once the death of Hulk Hogan became news, Flair released a loving tribute to his ex-opponent.
Flair joined the WWF in 1991, and he often stood across the ring from Hogan in the ’90s. They were opponents in the ring, but had a special bond off-camera that was real.
In his tribute, Flair said he was “shocked to hear” about Hogan’s death. He continued, “Hulk has been by my side since we started in the wrestling business. An incredible athlete, talent, friend, and father! Our friendship has meant the world to me.”
He ended it by saying, “Hulkster, no one will ever compare to you! Rest in peace my friend!”
