Deion Sanders Promises Fans “Everything is Okay” After Health Mystery

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has finally addressed widespread concern about his health status, delivering a reassuring message to supporters after days of speculation about his absence from team activities. The 57-year-old coaching icon took to social media to personally thank fans for their overwhelming support while confirming his recovery is progressing well.

The health situation became public knowledge when Sanders’ eldest son, Deion Jr., mentioned his father’s condition during a livestream on June 8, according to a report in USA Today. The 31-year-old son indicated that “Coach Prime” was “feeling well” but suggested fans would need to wait for his father to share specific details about his medical journey.

In his message, Sanders acknowledged the outpouring of concern from the Colorado community and beyond. “Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!” he wrote on X.

Sanders stayed true to his faith as he reassured followers about his recovery. “I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me!” Sanders shared.

Recent Struggles Take Toll

Sanders had previously hinted at significant health challenges during a recent podcast appearance with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel. The candid conversation revealed the extent of his physical struggles, including dramatic weight loss and energy depletion that had kept him away from media appearances since Colorado’s spring game in April.

“What I’m dealing with right now is a whole other level,” Sanders admitted during the podcast. “I’ve done no media, I’ve done nothing for a minute… I’ve lost 14 pounds. I’m coming back, but I needed this. I needed this exchange because I haven’t had any energy,” he shared, according to Sports Illustrated.

The coach’s health battles aren’t entirely new territory, as he has navigated multiple medical challenges in recent years. Sanders underwent toe amputations in 2021 and required several surgeries in 2023 to address blood clot complications, which previously forced him to miss important Pac-12 media obligations.

Return Plans Take Shape

Despite the ongoing health concerns, Sanders expressed enthusiasm about rejoining his Colorado program while currently recovering at his Texas residence. “I’m excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program,” Sanders wrote.”When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything. Until then, I’M COMING BABY, #CoachPrime.”

His son, Shedeur, now with the Cleveland Browns, has chosen to focus on his professional responsibilities while his father recovers. He stated his priority remains learning his new playbook and being the best teammate possible.
