David Beckham Home After Hospitalization [Update]

There was concern for Sir David Beckham’s health on Friday, June 27, after his wife, Victoria Beckham, posted a photo of him lying in a hospital bed on her Instagram Story. She followed up with a second photo, this time of a beaded bracelet that David was wearing while lying in bed. The message on the bracelet spelled out “Get Well Soon.”

Fans were curious about what had happened to David and why he had been hospitalized. However, there is good news, as Victoria has provided an update.

Victoria made a post of David on her Instagram Story on Saturday, June 28. This time, he was back home and in their kitchen, checking out his cucumbers. His arm is still in a blue sling and appears to be in a cast or bandages beneath it. You can also see that his index finger is bandaged up. In the clip, David seems to be in good spirits. The text overlay on the post reads, “Over achieving on the cucumber front, Sir David.”

In the clip, Victoria updates fans on David’s gardening, saying, “So on this weekend’s vegetable content: he is overperforming on the cucumber front, look at this. Are they all from the garden?” she asks. David appears to be proud of his gardening and gives a little smirk at the end of the video.

This is good news for fans because it shows the sportsman is on the mend. But why exactly was he in the hospital? The answer is that he underwent a corrective surgery for an injury sustained over 20 years ago. David broke his wrist during a friendly soccer match between England and South Africa in 2003 (at the time, he was the captain of England) and needed surgery to repair the wrist-related injury, The Telegraph reports.

David Beckham Is Back at His Gardening

Fans of David will know he has taken a keen interest in gardening, and his wife has been documenting his journey. This includes recently posting a video of the former soccer player tending to his carrots, although he did not experience quite the same success as he has with his cucumbers.

In a video posted on Instagram by Victoria on June 22, David is on his hands and knees as he pulls a carrot from the ground. It was not what he was expecting, though, because the carrot was short and split at the ends.
