Eva LaRue’s Harrowing Stalker Ordeal is the Subject of a New Documentary

General Hospital star Eva LaRue’s real-life nightmare is coming to Paramount+. The soap star will be the subject of an upcoming documentary detailing the true story of how she and her daughter, Kaya Callahan, lived in fear of a stalker for 12 years before he was finally caught and sentenced to prison.

According to Deadline, “My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story” is currently in production and scheduled to premiere in late 2025 on the Paramount+ streaming service.

“My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story” is being produced by Forte Entertainment and See it Now Studios, and will feature interviews with the actress.

“This documentary shares a deeply painful time in my and my daughter’s life—an experience shared by nearly 13.5 million stalking victims each year,” LaRue shared with Deadline.

“Stalking is a global crisis, often involving violence and lasting psychological trauma. Yet many victims are denied justice due to weak laws, limited awareness, and the challenge of proving these crimes. I hope my story raises awareness and helps drive meaningful change in how authorities protect victims and pursue justice.”

“Eva’s extraordinary talent as an actress is matched only by her remarkable courage. After a relentless 12-year ordeal that put both her and her daughter in life-threatening danger, she has chosen to confront the unimaginable with strength, and offers hope for those living in the shadow of fear,” said Executive Producer Susan Zirinsky, President of See it Now Studios. “We’re honored to help tell her story — a journey so harrowing and chilling that it’s impossible to imagine it’s not straight from a script page of a crime thriller.”

LaRue became a soap star when she played Dr. Maria Santos on “All My Children” (1993-97 and 2002-05). The actress went on to star as Natalia Boa Vista on the prime-time series “CSI: Miami,” and it was during this time that threatening letters began arriving at her home in 2007, signed by “Freddie Krueger,” the villain from the “Nightmare on Elm Street” horror movie series.

Eva LaRue’s Young Daughter Was Also Stalked

The situation escalated when Eva’s daughter with her ex-husband, John Callahan, began receiving her own letters in 2015. The stalker would also contact Kaya’s school, claiming to be her father, there to pick her up. In 2019, the FBI was finally able to use DNA from the envelopes to track down James David Rogers.

The Ohio resident was arrested and pleaded guilty to two counts of mailing threatening communications, one count of threats by interstate communications, and two counts of stalking. He was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison in September 2022.
