Beloved ‘Young and the Restless’ Actress Passes Away & Tributes Pour In

Lorna Raver made her career as a character actress, appearing in works such as “The Young and the Restless” and “Drag Me to Hell.” Sadly, it has just been announced that the beloved star passed away at the age of 81. 

According to TMZ, Raver passed away on May 12, but the sad news was kept private. However, her passing was noted in the “In Memoriam” section of the SAG-AFTRA’s Summer 2025 magazine. 


Fans are Paying Tribute to Raver Following Her Passing

Raver never became a household name, but her work across film and television left a mark on many. Because of this, many fans are posting kind messages on social media. Of course, most are familiar with her due to her role in “Drag Me to Hell.”

One person, Mike Barnes, wrote on X, “RIP Lorna Raver. The stage-trained actress was excellent as Mrs. Ganush, the witchy woman who plants a curse on Allison Lohman’s banker in Sam Raimi’s ‘Drag Me to Hell.’ When she auditioned, “I was not fully aware of exactly what I was getting into.”

A person who posts under the name Kyle shared the news and wrote, “What a memorable turn she gave in Drag Me To Hell. R.I.P” The Final Queue account also posted the news and captioned it, “OMG! Rest in peace, Lorna Raver. You were terrifyingly amazing in Drag Me to Hell!”


She Leaves Behind an Impressive Legacy

Raver made quite a mark on Hollywood. According to IMDb, her first credited movie or television role came in 1990 with an appearance in “Opporytunity Knocks.” Two years later, she landed a role in an episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful,’ in which she played a receptionist. 

The beginning of her screen career was made up of episodic appearances on popular television shows. This includes the likes of “Judging Amy,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Felicity,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Charmed,” and many others. 

However, Raver’s big break arrived in 1997 when she began playing Rebecca Kaplan on “The Young and the Restless.” She played the role for 26 episodes until 2007. Her other iconic role arrived in 2009 when she was selected to play Mrs. Ganush in “Drag Me to Hell.” As mentioned, this is where most fans got to know the beloved actress. 

Raver continued acting in the years that followed “Drag Me to Hell.” Her final credited roles came with 2014’s “Sinbad: the Fifth Voyage” and a 2016 video for “Cujo” where she served as the narrator. She will be missed.
