GH’s Laura Wright Shares Her Secret to Those Stunning Curls

It takes an awful lot to bring a soap opera to life five days a week. Of course, there are writers, producers, directors, and stars who bring characters to life. But it is the hair, makeup, and wardrobe departments that make the characters so familiar and memorable.

Laura Wright has played the role of Carly Spencer on “General Hospital” since 2005, and she is the first to admit that her character often bears little resemblance to her off-screen appearance. She recently revealed in an Instagram post that she hasn’t always been receptive to one piece of clothing, which in turn drove someone on set a little “crazy.”

On “General Hospital,” Carly Spencer is typically dressed in a buttoned-up businesswoman’s attire. She runs the Metro Court hotel and dresses the part. When not working, Carly is usually in mom mode, in jeans and a t-shirt. It’s more than a little ironic that overly emotional Carly often appears calmer than she actually is.

The look works for the character, but Carly’s wardrobe has never been Laura’s favorite part of the character. One cool shirt may have changed that, though.

“Curls and collars were never my thing- ha not sure why- I know I drove Shawn (our costume designer at GH) crazy – but lately that’s changed. I’m obsessed with this beautiful button-down -it’s so perfect for the beach,” said Laura in her latest Instagram post.

The most significant difference between Laura and the character that she plays is the hair. She sits in the hair chair a few times a week to get Carly’s perfect blowout, but when she’s not working, the actress prefers her natural curls. Honestly, who can blame her?

She recently shared her secret to that imperfectly perfect crazy hair on Instagram.

“Me and my curls number one topic I get questions about — some days they’re fun and perfect, and other days they are a frizzy mess! But I love them! I use Garnier USA curl cream for those asking,” she shared.
