GH’s Josh Kelly Is Sticking Around

If you are a “General Hospital” fan, then you may have heard the recent concern over whether Cody Bell’s character is going to stick around. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Josh Kelly was no longer listed as a contract player for the soap and worried that Cody may be on his way out of Port Charles.

Soap Opera Digest recently caught up with the actor, who says, “I want to stay on General Hospital forever!”

It was Josh Kelly’s Idea to be Taken Off Contract

It was Josh Kelly who actually asked to be taken off contract so that he would be available for other projects that he has in the works. His real-life love is GH alum, Chloe Lanier, and they have a special project coming up.

“Chloe and I are making a movie that we’re planning on shooting for two months. We’re also trying to shoot the sequel to the movie that I have coming out this summer, The Workout. I just wouldn’t be able to do that if I were on contract; you don’t just get to go off and do a bunch of other projects. And I wouldn’t expect the show to work around my schedule.”

When Kelly approached GH about dropping to recurring status, he made it clear that he didn’t want to go anywhere. “I told them pretty much what I’m telling you, which is that I would like to stay forever. I love being here. I love everyone that I’m working with on the show. I was just looking to have a little more flexibility,” explains the actor.

Josh Kelly Loves the Ladies That He Has Been Working With

Cody Bell has been juggling several of GH’s finest women lately, and Kelly is having a blast. Cody has been inching closer to Molly while pretending to be interested in Ava. He has been on Kristina’s payroll, but after his chat with Tracy, it looks like Cody may back out of their deal.

“I really think this is the hardest and best acting gymnasium in the world,” he said. “I really love what I’m doing on the show now, and I feel like I’m on a really good vibe with everyone. The story is fun and interesting, and I’m really excited to continue with it.”

Cody may be juggling women, but Kelly is pulling for a Tracy pairing. “I will not leave the show until they allow Cody to date Tracy!”
