‘The Traitors’ Season 3: How Ivar Could Steal the Crown

Season 3 of “The Traitors” has definitely kept us on our toes, full of twists and turns we didn’t see coming. But one contestant has really stood out: Lord Ivar Mountbatten. With his fascinating royal background and surprisingly solid gameplay, he’s quickly become one of the most compelling players in the game.

Who is Ivar?

Ivar isn’t just a regular contestant: he’s royalty, like the legit British royal family. He’s a second cousin to King Charles III, which is pretty wild. Both Ivar and Charles are great-great-great-grandsons of Queen Victoria, so Ivar’s royal roots run deep. But he’s not your typical stiff upper lip royal. Ivar has carved out his own path in life.

According to InStyle, Ivar went to Gordonstoun, the same school as King Charles, but what really got people talking was his marriage to James Coyle in 2018. Ivar became the first openly gay member of the royal family to marry, which definitely made headlines. These days, he’s living on the Birdwell Park Estate with James, running a café, and hosting events.

But none of that flashy royal stuff is what makes him interesting on “The Traitors”– it’s his gameplay.

How He Could Win Season 3

Ivar has definitely played a quiet, sneaky game, which is exactly why he could win it all. He doesn’t make a huge fuss or try to dominate the conversations, but he’s got his finger on the pulse of what’s happening around him. He’s been great at staying under the radar while others get into heated drama and focus on bigger personalities. That’s made him tough to read, and that’s exactly what you need in a game like this.

Per a Vulture recap, we saw some real tension in Episode 10 among the contestants as secrets started to unravel. The challenge involved earning gold with some ridiculous tasks (like clowns, dolls, and bags of stinky stuff) while the person with the most gold became “The Seer,” who would reveal someone’s true identity. Afterward, the roundtable saw some drama, with a tie between Ivar and Danielle. If it happens again, it could all come down to luck, which gives Ivar an advantage since he’s been so calm throughout all the chaos.

Ivar’s ability to stay cool while quietly working the social dynamics is what makes him a serious threat. As the endgame gets closer, he could easily slip past the final obstacles and take the win.

What This Means

Lord Ivar Mountbatten is a contender, and he’s played it smart. He’s managed to balance staying out of the drama while positioning himself for a potential victory. As we get closer to the finale, it’s gonna be exciting to see if he can pull it off. The Season 3 Finale of “The Traitors” airs Thursday, March 6, 2025 followed by a reunion special on Peacock.
