Sofia Vergara’s Sister Joins Cast of Popular Reality Show

Move over, McMansions — there’s a new Vergara making waves in the luxury real estate game. Sandra Vergara, Sofía Vergara’s sister and adoptive cousin, is officially stepping into the spotlight as the newest face of Netflix’s hit reality series.

On July 14, Netflix confirmed that Sandra has officially joined the cast of its hit Los Angeles-based reality show for season 9. Taking on a new role as a realtor with the Oppenheim Group, Sandra will be featured alongside the show’s returning stars as “new faces bring new feuds” to the highly competitive L.A. market, according to Netflix’s press release.

Following the announcement, Sandra posted to Instagram Stories with a playful message: “I guess the cat’s out of the bag.”

What to Expect From Season 9?

Netflix teased that the upcoming season will once again follow the elite real estate agents of the O Group as they compete for the city’s most exclusive listings. The returning cast includes Chrishell Stause, Chelsea Lazkani, Emma Hernan, Nicole Young, Alanna Gold, Mary Fitzgerald, Amanza Smith, Bre Tiesi, and Jason & Brett Oppenheim.

“The O Group felt like the perfect fit: sharp, high energy, and full of people who are at the top of their game,” Sandra said in a statement. She also teased what’s to come: “Season 9 definitely brings some unexpected twists. There are some jaw-dropping moments you won’t see coming.”

Before joining the Netflix show, Sandra Vergara carved out a career in entertainment, journalism & real estate. As per People, she got her start on E! alongside RuPaul and later appeared in shows like “CSI,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and “Nip/Tuck.”

She also served as a Los Angeles correspondent for People (the TV Show!) and now works as a luxury real estate professional.

“I’ve always had an eye for design and a love for people, so combining that in real estate just clicked,” Sandra said in an interview with Netflix. “I’d seen [the show] and always thought the women were incredibly dynamic. But being on the inside now, it’s a whole different level of excitement.”

The cast of ‘Selling Sunset’, winners of Best Docu-Reality Show, attend the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and broadcast on June 5, 2022.

Show creator Adam DiVello confirmed that season 9 will pick up where the drama of season 8 left off — especially with tensions still flaring between several cast members, including Nicole Young, Chrishell Stause, Chelsea Lazkani, & Emma Hernan.

“There was a lot of strife in the office and a lot of hurt feelings,” DiVello said. “We pick up and try to get past that as quickly as possible and into new stories.”

Production hit a brief pause in January 2025 due to the Los Angeles wildfires, which Jason Oppenheim said temporarily shifted the company’s focus to helping victims.

While Netflix hasn’t announced an official release date for season 9, cast member Amanza Smith first hinted at its return in November 2024 with a TikTok captioned “and we’re back 🎬.”

Meanwhile, Chrishell Stause confirmed that her drama with Nicole Young is far from over. In an August 2024 Instagram Story, Chrishell wrote she would “NEVER work on a show” with Nicole again, though she later reconsidered. “I hate her, but if you are going to pay me a ton of money to go say it to her face, then write the check,” Chrishell quipped in an October 2024 TikTok interview.

Sandra isn’t the first familiar face from the extended Modern Family circle to pop up on the show. Back in November 2021, Jesse Tyler Ferguson made a surprise cameo during former cast member Christine Quinn’s baby shower in season 4.
