Finale Recap: The Final Challenges
Early in the finale, Matt Wright emerged as a dominant force. Whether tackling intense physical obstacles, solving complex puzzles, or pushing through pure exhaustion, his grit and focus consistently stood out when it mattered most. He came into the final challenge all-in—relentless, determined, and refusing to back down.
The episode began with an aquatic challenge, where Cheeny led the pack using a powerful side stroke. Matt kept a steady pace, while Darrin struggled slightly, resorting to a slower doggy paddle—but refused to give up.
In the next stage, a hook retrieval challenge, Darrin again fell behind early but showed steady improvement, keeping him in the running. Meanwhile, Matt’s agility and Cheeny’s drive made it a close race throughout.
The final test—a fire-making challenge—proved to be the most intense. Both Cheeny and Matt successfully got flames going, but Darrin, showing grit and determination, pulled through in the final stretch to secure victory by utilizing a nearby bundle of dead grass.
Fan Reactions Pour In
Viewers flooded social media with support for all three finalists as the finale aired. In the “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing” Facebook group, one fan wrote, “All three deserve to win, but I’m rooting for Matt—only because he came so close to winning last year.” Another added, “I love them all, but I’d really love to see Cheeny win!”
Despite the stiff competition, Darrin Reay’s perseverance and survival expertise ultimately earned him the win—and the title of Season 3 champion.
