Lots of people love Halloween, but Heidi Klum loves Halloween. The former “America’s Got Talent” judge puts an extraordinary amount of effort into her costumes, always trying to top whatever elaborate character she was the year before. So it’s no surprise that she announced that she started working on her costume months ago.
Klum Says to Expect ‘Extra Ugly and Super Scary’ Costume This Year
On August 6, Klum appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and the conversation turned to whether she was having her annual Halloween party and wearing another astounding costume.
“Of course!” she replied. “Of course I’m going to do my Halloween party, I’m hard at work already,” she said. “Are you kidding? Like, already months ago.”
But when he asked what she was going to be this year, she got very serious.
“Oooh, I’m going to be extra ugly and super scary,” she confirmed. But she remained tight-lipped about whether she and her husband were going to do a couple’s costume.
“We have exactly 86 days, okay, but who’s counting?” she said to the audience’s laughter.
At one point, Fallon then showed the audience a photo of the “Project Runway” host’s outfit from her very first Halloween party in 2000.
“Well, this was boring, I have to say, very boring,” she said. Her outfit consisted of a black leather dress, spiked choker, armband, and bracelets. She wore thick, black braids, black nail polish, and blood red lipstick.
“This is my very first one,” Klum explained. “I was like, ‘Okay, I’m Heidi, I’m going to do a Heidi-themed dirndl-type thing, you know, in patent leather. And I thought that was cute. But I had to do my own hair and makeup.”
“I didn’t know anyone at the time, you know, who does like special effects makeup,” she continued. “And over the years, I met amazing people, and they help me now, because they put, like, prosthetics on me.”
Heidi Klum’s Halloween Transformations: From Jessica Rabbit to Princess Fiona
Klum has been highly successful in her quest to surpass the previous year’s outfit. “I always try to find things that people naturally wouldn’t do,” Klum previously told People. “Most people do nurses or police officers, but I was always looking for something that I hadn’t seen.”
Klum has had many outrageous Halloween costumes since that ‘boring’ costume in 2000. In 2015, she became Jessica Rabbit and documented the 10-hour process on Instagram.

In 2018, she and husband Tom Kaulitz wore their first couple’s costume, with Klum becoming Fiona to Kaulitz’s Shrek. Once again, she posted the process on Instagram, along with Kaulitz, also patiently getting prosthetics put on his face.
