“One Tree Hill” star Sophia Bush could have been cast on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” if only she had read her texts.
During the Create & Cultivate festival in Los Angeles on July 17, Bush and her friend, “RHOBH” star Bozoma Saint John, spoke about the mishap, as reported by E! News. Saint John revealed that she’d texted Bush months ago to get her on the show, but Bush missed the text.
“Sophia would make a great housewife, right?” Saint John said. “I wrote her a text message in April … I was like, ‘Hey, I need to ask you a controversial question.'” According to Saint John, Bush finally responded to her on July 18.
Bush chimed in to tell her side of the story. “First of all, I am a terrible texter,” she explained, “so I go to text her and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, I’m so excited I get to see you tomorrow. I can’t wait.’ And then I go, ‘Controversial question? April? … Wow, we really talk more in group chats.'”
Saint John Thought Bush Would Be a Good Fit
Saint John, an extremely accomplished marketing executive, joined “RHOBH” in 2024. She revealed why she thought Bush would be a good addition to the show.
“We need more women who are self-possessed, who enjoy their relationships with other women, who understand conflict and drama,” Saint John explained, adding, “not because they want to put on a spectacle, but because that’s just what life is, and are unafraid to talk about the hard stuff.”
What Bush Thought of ‘RHOBH’
Clearly, Saint John thought Bush ticked all the right boxes, but it seems the “John Tucker Must Die” actor was not fully sold on the idea of reality TV. In fact, she wasn’t quite sure why Saint John had joined the franchise at first.
“I don’t mean this to be judgy,” Bush began, “Genuinely, I was like, ‘Isn’t that the show where all the women yell at each other?’’ She clarified, “Boz is not a yeller. She is a cheerleader. She is a teammate. I don’t think I get it.”
But when Bush saw her pal in action, she began to understand. “… I decided to tune in to watch you, and I was like, ‘Oh, she’s changing the vibe of a whole industry,’” the actor shared.
Bush went on to praise Saint John for “modeling a healthier way” of embodying reality TV stardom. Whether Bush will end up making an appearance on “RHOBH” remains to be seen.
