Kathryn Edwards revealed why she didn’t contact Kyle Richards after she announced her separation from Mauricio Umansky in 2023.
The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star spoke out on the January 20, 2025 episode of the “Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef” podcast and explained that she legitimately wanted to reach out to Richards following her split from her husband of 28 years, but didn’t want it to appear that she was looking for the “gossip.”
Edwards, who was a main cast member on the sixth season of RHOBH alongside Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Yolanda Hadid, Lisa Rinna, Eileen Davidson, and Erika Jayne, also admitted she doesn’t know “anything” about Richards’ relationship with Morgan Wade.
There have been rumors that Richards had a romantic relationship with the country singer, but both women have denied that they were anything more than good friends.
“I don’t know anything about her and Morgan,” Edwards told Yontef. “And then when her and Mauricio, you know, announced the divorce I thought, ‘Do I send her a message, like I’m sorry to hear that?’ You know, because I really like her, and I like him. And then I thought — and there was already the Morgan stuff that was coming out at the same time — and it felt to me… I don’t ever want to be, I’m not the friend that ever wants to like to be in the gossip, like that wasn’t the purpose. And I felt like if I couldn’t pick up the phone or say something out of genuine friendship, that didn’t feel like, you know, I don’t know, I just, I think that’s a hard road to go down.”
Edwards also noted that Richards doesn’t want to talk about Wade anymore. Of her former co-star, she added, “I don’t know. I just, she’s a nice person… and I think she looks happy to me. “

GettyWade made several appearances on the 13th season of RHOBH. But when season 14 premiered in November, Richards made it clear that her friend’s name was off-limits.
“I know there’s a lot of curiosity about the person they always talk about,” Richards said on the season 14 premiere, “Grace Time Is Over.” “I’m not using her name intentionally. I don’t want to speak on anyone’s behalf except my own.”
Co-star Garcelle Beauvais questioned Richards’ changed stance on talking about Wade. “It’s a little late,” Beauvais said in a confessional. “We’ve been talking about her. She’s been with us.”

It has been nearly 10 years since Edwards appeared on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” but she did keep in touch with Richards, at least early on. Two years after her exit from the Bravo reality show, Edwards and her husband, Donnie, posed with Richards and Umansky at a party for Umansky’s company, The Agency.
“#rhobh reunion,” Richards captioned a smiley photo of the foursome in 2018.
