‘Real Housewives’ Star ‘Was Taken Aback’ by Her Husband’s Decision to Separate

“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Dorit Kemsley discussed her separation from her estranged husband, Paul “PK” Kemsley.

During the November 26 episode of “Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast, Kemsley said PK Kemsley initiated their separation, which surprised her.

“It was actually his idea. And I was taken aback,” said Kemsley.

Kemsley also shared that a few months after PK Kemsley “recognized he had a problem with alcohol and decided to get sober,” she and her estranged husband realized they had deep-rooted issues, specifically “a communication breakdown in [their] marriage.”

“It’s just a series of things that end up building over years. You build resentment. And if that’s not cleared out, you know, you are left with holding onto negative feelings about your partner,” said Kemsley during the November 2024 interview.

During the “Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast episode, Kemsley said she may have remained in her marriage if PK Kemsley had not approached her about wanting to separate. She explained that she would have liked to stay together for the sake of their children, Phoenix, 8, and Jagger, 10.

“If you asked me, in truth, I probably would have tried to work it out together. Because we have two small children,” said Kemsley during the podcast episode.

She clarified that she agreed with her estranged husband’s decision.

“But there was no hesitation on my part. Because, I knew ultimately, once I had a moment to think about it, I realized that this probably going to be the best thing for us,” said Kemsley.

While recording the “Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast episode, Kemsley shared whether she believed she and her estranged husband, who revealed they were separating in May 2024, would ever get back together.

“I can’t say there isn’t a chance because we aren’t getting a divorce right now. But I don’t know. I really don’t know. I think there’s always a chance for anything,” said Kemsley on the podcast episode.

She also shared that she is not currently dating.

Kemsley made similar comments about possibly rekindling her romance with PK Kemsley in a November 2024 interview with Page Six. She said she and her estranged husband “would have to do work” before they “even consider reconciliation.”

“I think no matter what there’s work to be done. And if we both want to do it, it can only help us in the future, individually and collectively,” continued Kemsley during the Page Six interview.

In addition, she said she intends to be friends with PK Kemsley even if they do eventually divorce.

Kemsley also mentioned wanting a friendship with her estranged husband in a November 2024 Decider interview.

“I think that there is work to be done even in all aspects, just to be able to have a friendship that is very strong and not have the continued ups and downs,” said Kemsley to Decider. “And I think that if we can work on that and communication and deal with some of the things that — whether it’s resentments or whether [it’s] the things that have built over the years, then I think any road we choose will be the best versions of ourselves and the best parents.”
