Halle Berry didn’t hold back when talking about her love life. The 58-year-old actress appeared on Jenna & Friends on the Today Show and opened up about her relationship with Van Hunt.

According to Halle, Van wants her to become “Mrs. Halle Van Hunt.” But though the couple is happy and content in love, they are not in a rush to tie the knot.
Halle Berry Opens Up About Van Hunt’s Proposal
During their first joint interview on the Today Show, the couple shared heartfelt moments and addressed a big question: marriage. Van Hunt arrived with flowers for Halle and was beaming as they discussed their relationship.

And I have found my person, finally.” But when asked if a proposal was coming, Van surprised everyone by saying he had already popped the question. “So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see,” he said. “It’s just out there floating. Maybe you can encourage her.”
Halle laughed, but she didn’t avoid the topic.

“I’ve been married three times,” Halle explained. “Van has been married once. We don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love.”

But it’s not because we feel we must — it’s just something we want to do.”
Halle’s past includes marriages to David Justice, Eric Benét, and Olivier Martinez. She shares daughter Nahla with her ex, Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo with Martinez. Van Hunt has a son from a previous relationship.
The couple went public in 2020, but had already been dating for months. In 2021, they even held a “commitment ceremony” suggested by Halle’s son.
“This was a ceremony by an 8-year-old in the back seat of the car,” she recalled on Live with Kelly and Ryan. “‘Mom, you should get married to him.’ So we’re like, ‘Oh, okay. We’re married!’ But we’re not married.”
The sweet, spontaneous moment captured what matters most to the couple.
“What I love about it is, when you blend families, it’s really hard,” Halle said. “So the good news is, my kids are comfortable and that’s all that matters.”
For now, the proposal may be “floating,” but the love between Halle and Van seems rock solid.
