Fans of ABC’s long-running daytime talk show “The View” will get to watch the co-hosts banter seven days a week beginning on January 11, 2025, according to Variety.
The outlet reported on January 8 that the show’s regular Friday panel of co-hosts — moderator Joy Behar alongside Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro — will appear on “The Weekend View,” a half-hour version of the show to premiere at 7:30 a.m. Eastern time each Saturday morning on the ABC News Live streamer.
‘The Weekend View’ Will Be More Fun, Less Political
According to Variety, “The Weekend View” will feature an extended version of the show’s popular “Hot Topics” segment, during with the co-hosts discuss major news stories, but they won’t discuss politics as much as they do during the weekday broadcast. That segment will be taped on Fridays, and they’ll also feature clips from “Behind the Table,” the talk show’s companion podcast with executive producer Brian Teta and “The View” co-hosts discussing pop culture stories.
The same team that produces the weekday show, including Teta, will oversee the weekend version, Variety reported.
Karin Gilford, senior vice president of Digital Media for ABC News Group and Disney Entertainment Networks, told the outlet that the expanded show is “an opportunity for us to extend the conversation, give viewers more of what they love from the connection they feel for the show.”
“We really think ‘Weekend View,’ in addition to what we’ve done on podcasting — we’ve always had a great short form and social presence for the show — is kind of the next frontier,” she told the outlet. The weekends are also when everybody’s generally taking a break. So it’s an opportunity to highlight some of the stuff the show covers throughout the week, that’s maybe not always in some of those politics arenas.”
‘The View’ Began Airing in 1997

“The View” has been on the air since August 1997, spearheaded by late journalist Barbara Walters. Behar has been with the show since its start, but took a break during seasons 17 and 18, per TV Insider.
A variety of other co-hosts have appeared on the show over the years, but the current lineup — including Whoopi Goldberg, who moderates the show Mondays through Thursdays — lifted the show to huge ratings success in 2024, according to ABC.
In a December 24 press release, the network said “The View” was the most-watched daytime talk show and news program among U.S. households and Total Viewers, likely boosted by 2024 being an election year.
Teta told Variety, “In addition to having its most-watched linear season in four years, ‘The View’ is finding success meeting viewers wherever they get their content, from podcasts to YouTube, and now with new exclusive streaming content for the weekend on ABC News Live.”
