Meghan Markle is celebrating a milestone for her oldest child.
Son Archie turned 6-years-old May 6. And to mark the occasion, Meghan posted a rare photo of the redhead. The picture shows Archie standing looking out at the ocean, his head haloed by the the setting sun.
In the caption, Meghan writes, “Our son. Our sun.
Happy 6th birthday to Archie!
Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?
(And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special ❤️)”
Sightings of Prince Harry & Meghan’s Kids Are Rare
While Meghan Markle rarely posts pictures or videos of her two children with Prince Harry, we occasionally get a peek at Archie and his little sister Lilibet, 3.
Typically, the kids are only shown from behind, but that shows off the glorious red hair they inherited from their dad.
Lili’s long hair is a lighter shade, but Archie’s locks are dark Auburn.
Meghan Markle Loves Having Kids Nearby While She Works
While fans only got glimpses of Archie and Lilibet in Meghan’s lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan,” the Duchess of Sussex shared with PEOPLE how important it is to her to have them be a part of everything.
“Archie did the [filming clapboard]! Sweet moments. They would also come with my husband and visit me on-set, and I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance of that and understand what Mama does and is working to create and share. It was really special because up until then, they hadn’t seen me at work,” Meghan told PEOPLE.
Duchess Says Prioritizing Family Time Is Key for Mental Health
While speaking to a crowd about balancing work and motherhood at the TIME100 Summit, Markle admitted she’s “made a very, very conscious effort to create boundaries for myself and for my mental health, for my well-being and certainly to role model that as well for my children.”
“I’m conscious of not just raising very strong and confident young woman, but also having a son,” she went on. “I think it’s just as paramount of importance for young men to be raised with a confidence and sense of self that is going to empower the women around them too.”
“It starts with whatever is going on internally,” she added. “When I am able to not even just tune out whatever that noise is, [but] to really not give it any credence, that has become so much a part of my day-to-day life.”
It’s a strategy that seems to be working.
“I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” she told the crowd. “And that part, to have a partner and a husband who’s just so supportive… and to have healthy kids that are so joyful in the freeness of their life and the safety of their life that we create for them… of all the things that have happened in my life, I never would have imagined getting here at this point that I would feel just so happy and grateful, and I really do.”
