Meghan Markle was in Vancouver Whistler with her husband Prince Harry for the 2025 Invictus Games, but the two have since parted ways. Markle jetted out of Canada to head home to the couple’s children, Archie and Lilibet, in California.
However, while some media outlets seem to be making a bigger story out of it, Markle’s departure was scheduled in advance.
“This was a pre-planned arrangement to ensure she could be with the children while the Duke continues supporting the remainder of the Games,” a source told Page Six.
Prince Harry will remain in Vancouver until the closing ceremonies.
Prince Harry Has Loved Having Meghan Markle at The Invictus Games This Year
Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014. The Games are similar to the Olympics but for wounded and/or sick service members and veterans. It’s a cause that’s been near and dear to Harry’s heart for many years.
In an interview with People magazine on February 9, Prince Harry opened up about returning to Canada.
“It’s incredible to be back in Canada. Canada couldn’t be more appropriate to host the first Winter Games. Everyone is so excited,” he said.
“To have my wife here supporting me is amazing. I love that she’s by my side. It’s such an important piece to this whole adventure,” he added.
Markle has been documenting some of the memories made on her Instagram account.
“Let the games begin! Get ready for a week of heart, hope, and heroes in action. Join us in cheering loudly and proudly to show just how much these competitors and their families mean to us,” she captioned a post on Instagram on February 9.
Meghan Markle Will Be Busy in the Coming Year
After leaving the Invictus Games, it’s back to work for Markle, who has a big 2025 ahead.
On January 2, she shared that she’s been working on her own show, which is slated to be released on Netflix this year.
“I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support – and fun,” she said of “With Love, Meghan.”
Nearly two weeks later, Netflix released a statement confirming that the show was going to be pushed back to March. Markle made the request due to the ongoing wildfires in California.
“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Markle said in a statement.
