Matt Damon was spotted without his normally clean-cut look on the set of his latest movie, “The Odyssey.”
Page Six shared pictures of the actor with gray hair, a long silver beard, and a super toned physique while he was filming on an island in Italy on March 25.
Also present was the film’s producer and director, Christopher Nolan, who appeared to be talking to the Odysseus portrayer in between takes.
Damon’s co-star Zendaya later appeared on set and was in costume with a draped gown and her hair in a braid, per Page Six.
Early that day, Screen Thrill posted pictures of Damon arriving in Sicily sporting the same long beard and a baseball cap.
“He’s already filmed the iconic scenes with the cyclops Polyphemus, said to be a towering animatronic with a head as big as a standing man. What do you think of Damon’s look for the role so far?” the Instagram account wrote.
“I think the correct term is ‘swole,'” a fan wrote of Damon’s buff figure. Another replied, “That’s my king of Ithaca.”
‘The Odyssey’ Has a Star-Studded Cast
“The Odyssey” was first announced by Universal Pictures on December 23, 2024. “Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” the film studio shared on X.
“The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026,” Universal Pictures continued.
In February, Variety confirmed that along with Damon and Zendaya, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and John Leguizamo have been cast in the film.
Other noteworthy names include Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, and Jon Bernthal.
The original epic poem written by Homer, was reimagined by Nolan, who acts as the scriptwriter, director, and producer, Variety reported.
Ben Affleck is Impressed by Damon’s Odysseus Role

When talking to GQ in a March 25 interview about the physical demands of his “Accountant 2” role, Ben Affleck said, “I used to be very gung-ho about like, ‘Oh, I’ll do the fights, I’ll do the stunts.’ And now I am very much, ‘At what point is the stunt performer going to come in and do this?’
He added, “It’s one of the things I was talking to Matt [Damon] about — he’s going off to do this Chris Nolan movie and doing a lot of stunt rehearsal, and it was kind of like, ‘Boy, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?'”
Affleck praised Damon’s good fortune of working with acclaimed directors and told GQ, “I would’ve taken ‘Saving Private Ryan.’ If Martin Scorsese called me and told me to play a waiter, I would take it.”
He added, “Steven Spielberg is one of the great filmmaking architects to ever live. I feel that way about Chris Nolan. I may go visit Matt on the set just to watch Nolan direct. I’m not even kidding at all.”
