UPDATE: New Information Released On the Passing of Loni Anderson

As fans know, Loni Anderson died on August 3, 2025. The actress, best known for her role in the CBS sitcom “WKRP in Cincinnati, was just two days shy of her 80th birthday.

People reported on August 22 that TMZ obtained her death certificate, which lists the star’s cause of death as metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer.

The National Organization for Rare Disorders describes the condition as “a rare malignant (cancerous) tumor that arises from the smooth muscle lining the walls of the uterus.”

The report says the mother of two was buried in Hollywood on August 7 after being cremated.

Loni Anderson Opened Up About Burt Reynolds Split 7 Years Before Her Death

In a courageous interview with talk show “Studio 10,” Anderson talked about ending her high-profile relationship with Burt Reynolds. The segment said the couple’s divorce was such hot news in Hollywood that Reynolds claimed Princess Diana wrote him a thank you note for keeping her off the cover of People Magazine.

Explaining how she got through the turmoil, Anderson revealed, “I used to say to my daughter, ‘At home there’s just regular me. Loni Anderson me. And then there’s a tabloid me. And I’m not the tabloid. I’m just your mom. And we’ll get through whatever it is cause we’re just real people.'”

Anderson called Quinton, the adopted son she shared with Reynolds “fabulous,” and revealed the exes were keeping in contact for his sake. “As a matter of fact, we had dinner a couple of years ago with Quinton,” she said. The beauty went on, “You know, time passes. We were friends first. We were together for 12 years. We have this wonderful boy. You have to let all the other stuff go.”


Hollywood Fondly Remembered Loni Anderson After Her Death

Several famous faces spoke out with kind words about Anderson after the Hollywood Reporter says her publicist announced she died at noon on August 3 “of an acute prolonged illness.”

“Days of Our Lives” actress Morgan Fairchild called Anderson “one of the genuinely nicest ladies I’ve ever worked with” as she recalled their time onset together filming “Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas” in an X post.

Actor Robert Davi took to his Instagram to call Anderson “a classy, lovely woman,” before reminiscing about the fun they had while filming “White Hot: The Mysterious Murder of Thelma Todd.”

“I Dream of Jeannie” star Barbara Eden weighed in on Anderson’s death as well. The 93-year-old wrote on X, “I am absolutely stunned and heartbroken. Our friendship has spanned many years, and news like this is never easy to hear or accept.”
