Lena Dunham’s ‘Too Much’ Trailer Is Here — and It’s Delightfully Unhinged

Girls’ Alum Lena Dunham is officially back — but this time, she’s staying behind the camera. Netflix just dropped the trailer for “Too Much”, Dunham’s new rom-com series starring Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe, and it’s as messy, funny, and heartfelt as you’d expect.

The series premieres July 10 and follows a burned-out New Yorker trying to start over across the pond.

Megan Stalter Leads a London Love Story With Major Red Flags

In “Too Much”, Megan Stalter plays Jessica, a 30-something workaholic stuck in post-breakup misery. After torching every bridge in New York — literally and figuratively — she moves to London to start fresh. Her plan? Go full Brontë sister: write, be alone, and heal.

But then she meets Felix (played by Will Sharpe), a walking red flag with a guitar and some serious charm.

What follows is a whirlwind of emotional chaos, accidental healing, and hilariously bad decisions.

The trailer teases plenty of drama — including a midnight break-in at her ex’s place, a wild meet-cute in a bar, and the iconic line:

“Yeah. I want you to cut their heads off and sew them back on.”

‘Too Much’ Star Power? 5 Huge Guest Stars Join the Netflix Series

As if the leads weren’t enough, “Too Much” just revealed five major guest stars joining the cast: Jessica Alba, Kit Harington, Rita Ora, Andrew Scott, and Jennifer Saunders. They’ll appear alongside a stacked supporting cast that includes Michael Zegen, Emily Ratajkowski, Naomi Watts, Rita Wilson, Stephen Fry, Janicza Bravo, Andrew Rannells, Adwoa Aboah, and more.

Who’s Behind the Series?

Lena Dunham co-created “Too Much” with her husband, Luis Felber, whom she met and married in the U.K., where she’s been living for the past few years. The show’s loosely based on her real life, and she’s even called it “semi-autobiographical.”

Speaking at a Netflix event in London earlier this year, Dunham admitted, “Some of my own experiences did kick start the concept for the show.”

She wears a lot of hats on this one — writing, directing, and executive producing.

She’s teamed up with her production partner, Michael P. Cohen, at Good Thing Going, along with Working Title’s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Surian Fletcher-Jones, and longtime collaborator Bruce Eric Kaplan. Camilla Bray serves as producer, and Universal International Studios backs the series.

The series’ official synopsis:

“Jessica (Megan Stalter) is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister. But when she meets Felix (Will Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language? From the creator of Girls and the producers of Love Actually, Too Much is an ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is.”

Mark your calendar — it drops on Netflix July 10.
