Kelsea Ballerini Says Bidding on Date on ‘Southern Charm’ ‘Haunts Me Forever’

Kelsea Ballerini is setting the record straight about her cameo on “Southern Charm,” where she bid on a date with Craig Conover. “The Voice” coach shared all the details of the moment she says still “haunts” her.

Kelsea Ballerini Cleared Up Why She Was on ‘Southern Charm’

During a February appearance on Cosmopolitan’s “Cheap Shots,” Ballerini answered a series of questions about her life and career.

At one point, she was asked about her cameo during season 2 of “Southern Charm” in 2015. The singer reflected on bidding on a date with Conover at a charity auction.

“Oh god, it haunts me forever,” she said about the moment. Ballerini also felt the need to “clear this up” with fans and explain what really happened.

“I was on [a] radio tour and I was doing a show for the radio station on a boat and they were filming ‘Southern Charm’ on the boat,” Ballerini recalled. “And I didn’t know that.”

“The Voice” coach didn’t realize she’d be on camera, as she was there to perform a song. “I was just there playing ‘Love Me Like You Mean It.’ Being like, ‘Hey, radio station, please play my song,'” she shared.

“And then, little did I know, my label had set up the fact that I was going to bid on a date. I didn’t know,” Ballerini said. “I get pushed into [camera] frame … bid it, got the date.”

Ultimately, Ballerini didn’t go on the date with Conover.

“They auctioned [the date] off on the radio station for charity,” she revealed. “Some winner from the radio station got it.”

The country star didn’t lose any sleep over not having that date, however. “Yeah, everything is great as it turned out,” she said.

Kelsea Ballerini Slid Into Chase Stokes’ DMs

Ballerini first connected with her boyfriend Chase Stokes by sending him a DM reading “Hi, Chase Stokes.”

During her interview with Cosmopolitan, the singer was asked, “You met your boyfriend, Chase Stokes, by sliding into his DMs. Name one celeb who sent you a flirty DM … “

She answered, “Not a single one. Not a single one. Trust me, if I had tea, I’d spill it! At this point, look at me! What do I have to lose? No, no, no. Nope. No one.”

As for her bold move with DMing Stokes, she noted, “That’s why I was shooting shots. I was like, ‘It’s cold out here!'”
