Halle Berry Opens Up About a Female James Bond

Actress Halle Berry, who played one of the most iconic Bond girls in history, has opened up about the possibility of a woman playing the new James Bond.

With Daniel Craig putting down his martini as 007, the race for a new James Bond is on. A series of actors have been floated for the role, ranging from Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Henry Cavill. However, the new James Bond has not yet been announced, which means it’s anyone’s guess.

However, Berry hesitated when asked whether she thinks there will be a female James Bond.

According to Variety, Berry hesitated when asked whether the new James Bond should be a woman and when asked whether her character Jinx might return.

“I don’t know if 007 should be a woman,” she said, according to Variety. “In 2025, it’s nice to say, ‘Oh, she should be a woman.’ But I don’t really know if I think that’s the right thing to do.”

She was also asked whether she would “reprise” her character Jinx, and she hesitated about that also, according to Variety. “I doubt there will be a Jinx spinoff. There was a time that that could have happened. Probably should have happened. I would have loved for that to happen,” she said, Variety reported. “But I think that time has passed.”

There Was a Female 007 Before, But She Wasn’t James Bond

Although the iconic James Bond character has always been a man, there was a female 007 before in a Bond movie that starred Daniel Craig.

According to The Guardian, Lashana Lynch played that role. She opened up to the publication about what it took.

“They hand you a bunch of weapons and they teach you a routine for a few seconds or a minute and then you basically have to copy the routine. So it was like, ‘OK, grab the gun! Shoot! Get down on your knees! Shoot! Roll on your back! Land on your feet! Shoot! Run, run, run! You’ve run out of ammo! Throw that away! Assemble this gun! Shoot!’ And that was the first out of five routines they taught me,” Lynch told The Guardian.

DailyMail.com previously reported that an internal memo indicated James Bond would remain male and British, but that report has not been confirmed.
