Every Actor Confirmed for the ‘Street Fighter’ Reboot

While the “Street Fighter” is one of the highest grossing video game franchise ever, the same can’t be said for the 1994 film of the same name. Although it was successful at the box office, critics and fans of the game criticized the film for its exaggerated and melodramatic tone.

According to Deadline, Capcom, the video game company behind “Street Fighter,” will also be involved in developing and producing the live-action film. It will be distributed by Legendary and Sony.

Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, and Raul Julia, the film is largely remembered as Julia’s last film role, with the actor dying of a stroke two month’s before the movie was released. But in 2023, it was announced that a new “Street Fighter” film was in the works.

While some stars, such as Cody Rhodes as Guile and Andrew Schultz as Dan Hibiki were already confirmed, we’re finally getting a better look at the full star-studded cast.

Andrew Koji Will Be Playing Lead Protagonist Ryu

Kitao Sakurai will be directing the new “Street Fighter” film. A longtime collaborator of Eric Andre, he’s best known for the TV series “The Eric Andre Show,” “Twisted Metal,” and the film “Bad Trip.”

Andrew Koji will be playing the coveted lead role of Ryu. Koji has been slowly making his name known in the action sphere, after co-starring in 2021’s “Snake Eyes.” Since then, he’s co-starred with Brad Pitt in “Bullet Train” and with Bill Skarsgård in 2023’s “Boy Kills World.”

Noah Centineo has been cast as Ken Masters, who is both a rival and close ally of Ryu. He’s most recognized as a heartthrob, thanks to parts in “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “The Perfect Date.” But his roles as Atom Smasher in “Black Adam” and Brian in “Warfare” gives him some action credibility.

Jason Momoa will be playing Blanka, a green electic mutant from the Amazon. Blanka is actually usually calm, but, due to living in the forest, lashes out like a wild animal when angered. Momoa is no stranger to action films, having recently starred as Aquaman, Dante in “Fast X,” and Duncan Idaho in “Dune.”

David Dastmalchian is Playing Mob Boss M. Bison

David Dastmalchian will be playing M. Bison the role that originated with Raul Julia. The main antagonist of the “Street Fighter” video games, he’s the leader of a criminal organization and seeks to rule the world. Dastmalchian appeared in “Dune: Part One,” “Oppenheimer,” and currently plays Gareth in “Dexter: Resurrection.”

Joe Anoa’i, better known as WWE champion Roman Reigns, will be playing Akuma. In the game, Akuma is an antagonist, known for having sharp, pointed teeth. He is a cruel and unforgiving warrior. Anoa’i is obviously best known for his WWE persona, but his acting credits include “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” and “Elena of Avalor.”

Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, will be playing Balrog. Balrog is a boxer who loves women and alcohol. 50 Cent was most recently in “Boneyard” and “The Expendables 4.”

Orville Peck has been cast as Vega, a claw-wielding ninja who served as M. Bison’s bodyguard. Peck is better known as a musician, but he played the voice of Granite Rockberg in the series “Kiff.”

Callina Liang is taking on the role of martial artist and Interpol officer Chun-Li. Chun-Li is the main female protagonist of “Street Fighter,” and sought revenge against M. Bison for the death of her father. She’s best known for her roles in “Presence” and “Bad Genius.”
