Actors often go through grueling transformations when a role demands it, and sometimes, embracing the change can be mentally more challenging than the physical change itself. Emma Stone admitted she felt bad about hiding her bold new look. The two-time Oscar winner revealed she wore wigs after shaving her head for her upcoming film “Bulgonia”, which hits theaters Oct. 31.
Stone Says She Regrets Not Showing Off Her Bald Look

“I was bummed I wasn’t going out with it,” Stone told Vogue in an interview published Aug. 11. “Just straight-up bald. I think that would have been fun.” She admitted she wished she could have enjoyed the freedom of embracing her shaved head in public.
Stone Shaved Her Head for ‘Bulgonia’ Role

The “La La Land” star, 36, shared that she embraced the transformation, which she underwent on camera for a scene where her character is kidnapped by two conspiracy theorists played by Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis.
“No better feeling in the world,” Stone said of shaving her head. “The first shower when you’ve shaved your head? Oh my god, it’s amazing.”
Stone also revealed that she cried after the haircut, recalling her mom Krista Stone’s hair loss during breast cancer treatment. “She actually did something brave,” Stone said. “I’m just shaving my head.” But her mom encouraged it, saying, “I’m so jealous. I want to shave my head again.”
Jennifer Lawrence’s Candid Reaction

Not everyone was immediately on board. Jennifer Lawrence, Stone’s close friend, admitted she initially didn’t want her to do it.
“I really didn’t want her to shave her head,” Lawrence quipped, referencing how she also disliked the shaggy bangs Stone wore for her role as Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes. “I had already lived through the Billie Jean King haircut.”
Winning Over Friends & Fans

In the end, Lawrence was impressed. “Honestly, she looked beautiful,” she said. “She pulled it off.” Stone, who shares daughter Louise Jean, 4, with husband Dave McCary, said the experience was both liberating and meaningful.
She added that the transformation made her appreciate the emotional connection people have to their hair.
Stone Says Motherhood Is the Greatest Gift of Her Life
While juggling professional commitments, Stone also said she is grateful to be a mother. She opened up about how meaningful motherhood is to her.
Stone shares her 4-year-old daughter, Louise Jean, with husband Dave McCary, whom she married in September 2020. “There’s nothing I feel luckier about,” she told the outlet. “She’s the greatest gift of my life, for sure.”
The “Poor Things” star added that becoming a mom has influenced the projects she takes on, now weighing the travel and time away from her daughter before committing to a role. “It’s streamlined everything,” she said. “It’s a clichéd thing to say, but it changes everything. And simplifies everything.”
