90s Star Hints at Hit Show Reunion Amid Co-Star’s Cancer Battle

A ’90s star is hinting at a show reunion amid her co-star’s cancer battle.

Busy Phillips suggested that there could be a reunion of “Dawson’s Creek” in the works, according to US Weekly.

That news comes after co-star James Van Der Beek told People in November that he has colorectal cancer. He told People he has been “taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family.”

Phillips made it clear that there is interest in a reunion in an interview with US Weekly.

“We’re really trying to figure something out, but there are a couple of people who have some work things that cannot be moved,” Philipps, 45, told the publication.

“It’s like playing chess, trying to get everybody’s schedules to align. I’m very hopeful that at some point we will.”

Michelle Williams and Katie Holmes are among the “Dawson’s Creek” co-stars who are involved in trying to organize the reunion, US Weekly reported.

James Van Der Beek Said He Was Optimistic About His Cancer Battle

James Van Der Beek attends the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena on September 20, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Van Der Beek told People that he feels optimistic after his cancer diagnosis.

“There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good,” he said last fall.

He told People that he has still been working on television projects as well as spending time with his family.

But he discussed the struggles in an Instagram post.

“When I was younger, I used to define myself as an actor, which was never really all that fulfilling,” he said in a March 8 video posted to his Instagram page. “Then I became a husband, and that was much better — and then I became a father and that was the ultimate. I could define myself as a loving, capable, supportive husband/ father/provider/steward of the land we get to live on.”

He added, “And then this year, I had to look my own mortality in the eye. I had to come to nose-to-nose with death, and all of those definitions that I cared so deeply were stripped from me. I was away for treatment, so I could no longer be a husband who was helpful to my wife [and] I could no longer be a husband who could be there for my kids.”

Phillips told US Weekly that Van Der Beek’s battle is on the co-stars’ minds.

“Everybody is, and I’m so glad to see and hear from James — and I know he posted on Instagram that he’s feeling well — and we just have all been really sending him every ounce of good wishes and prayers and hoping for the best,” she told US.
