Country heartthrob Craig Wayne Boyd performed a Merle Haggard melody called “Working Man Blues” for his first song on tonight’s episode of The Voice. This song was chosen by his coach Blake Shelton, who performed for the show’s opening this evening. Boyd did a fantastic job and Adam Levine said he loves his individuality. Shelton gushed that Boyd has such amazing control over a melody when he sings. He said he can’t wait to see what happens to Boyd once the competition is over because he thinks Boyd’s going to be a huge star.

This week, Boyd returned home to Nashville to visit his young son and he was greeted by his parents and tons of friends. Music artist Randy Houser decided to surprise him by stopping by and performing with Boyd. Check out Boyd’s second performance of the night in the below video.
