The list of celebrities who lost their homes in the California wildfires ranges from Paris Hilton to Mel Gibson.
Celebrities took to social media to share their profound sadness, but they also thanked first responders and firefighters and expressed gratitude that their families were safe. The celebrities whose homes were destroyed include Billy Crystal, Anthony Hopkins, Anna Faris, John Goodman, Miles Teller, Melissa Rivers, and Cary Elwes.
Actor James Woods initially thought his house was destroyed, then he discovered it was not.
“A miracle has happened. We managed to get to our property and our home, that we were told is gone forever, is still standing. In this hellish landscape ‘standing’ is relative, but smoke and other damage is not like the utter destruction around us. The view from our deck area,” he wrote on X.
Others, such as actress Jamie Lee Curtis, mourned the loss of their communities but shared that their own houses were spared.

Paris Hilton
Hilton posted on her Instagram page that she watched her Malibu home burn to the ground “on live TV.” However, she also expressed gratitude that her family and pets were safe and thanked first responders and firefighters.
“To the brave firefighters and first responders risking their lives to protect us—you are true heroes,” she wrote.
Cameron Mathison
Actor Cameron Mathison shared a video to his Instagram page revealing that his home was completely destroyed.
“We are safe. But this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to all who reached out and checked in. Can’t respond to all so wanted to give an update here. Sendign so many prayers to everyone being affected by these fires🙏🏼”
Billy Crystal

According to the Associated Press, Crystal and his wife released a statement confirming that their home had burned down.
“Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this,” it read, according to The Associated Press.
Cary Elwes
The “Princess Bride” star wrote on Instagram, “Sadly we did lose our home but we are grateful to have survived this truly devastating fire.”
“Our hearts go out to all the families impacted by this tragic event and we also wish to extend our gratitude to all the firefighters, first responders and law enforcement who worked so tirelessly through the night and are still at it,” he wrote.
Leighton Meester & Adam Brody
According to BBC, the celebrity couple also lost their home.
Spencer Pratt & Heidi Montag
Married “Hills” stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag were among the celebrities whose home burned to the ground, BBC reported.
“The one positive sign i saw as our house burned down was ours sons bed burned in the shape of a heart,” Pratt wrote on Instagram. “A sign of how much love was in this house so thankful for all the years and memories there with our family.”
Ricki Lake
“It’s all gone. I can’t believe I’m typing these words,” talk show host Lake wrote in her Instagram story, sharing a photo of her on the property before the devastation.
Anna Faris

People Magazine reported that Faris’s home was among those that burned to the ground. “Anna and her family are safe and very grateful,” a spokesperson told People.
Anthony Hopkins

DailyMail.com published photos showing Hopkins’ mansion had burned to the ground.
Mandy Moore
The Associated Press reported that Moore also lost her home.
“I love you, Altadena. Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets),” she wrote on Instagram.
“Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family. My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too. Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control.”
John Goodman

Melissa Rivers told CNN that she was able to save some mementos before her home burned.
“In my personal situation that’s it. That is the end of everything that belonged to my family and the history of it. So to be 100 percent honest, I grabbed my mom’s Emmy, a photo of my dad, and a drawing that my mother had done of my son and I,” she said on CNN.
Miles Teller

Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh Teller lost their Pacific Palisades home, according to People, which published a photo.
Mel Gibson

Actor/director Mel Gibson revealed to NewsNation that his home was destroyed.
“It’s emotional,” Gibson told NewsNation. “I had my stuff there. I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it’s all in cinders.” He also told NewsNation that he was thankful for the “generosity” of people in the neighborhood, and he is grateful that his large family was safe.
Jeff Bridges

According to TMZ, Bridges lost a “4-bedroom home with views of the Pacific Ocean” that “has been in the Bridges family for generations.”
Candy Spelling

Tori Spelling’s mom Candy Spelling also lost her home in the fire, according to TMZ.
Will Rogers’ Historic Estate

Although Rogers died in 1935 in a plane crash, his historic ranch was considered a state treasure. The California Parks system revealed in a news release that it burned down, but did share that horses, artwork, and cultural and historic artifacts were saved.
