Brad Pitt has returned to work just two weeks after the death of his mother, Jane, who passed away at 84 on August 5. The 61-year-old actor was photographed in Los Angeles on August 19, back in costume as Cliff Booth while filming the sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 hit “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”
A source told People that Pitt is “being his usual professional self despite this personal tragedy.”
Remembering Jane Pitt’s Legacy

Pitt grew up in Springfield, Missouri, as the oldest of three children of Jane & William Pitt, alongside siblings Doug and Julie. In her obituary, Jane was remembered for her devotion to family.
“Known affectionately as Grammy, Jane found immense joy in celebrating each grandchild’s uniqueness through one-on-one traditions lovingly known as ‘Your Special Day,’” the obituary read. “These treasured moments remain among the fondest memories for all 14 of her grandchildren.”
Pitt’s Public Affection for His Mother
Although his parents stayed mainly out of the spotlight, Pitt often spoke with pride about his mother. During a June interview on the Today show with Savannah Guthrie, Pitt made sure to send her a message.
“I gotta say hi to my mom because she watches you every morning,” Pitt said in the clip. “To Jane Pitt. Love you, Mom.”
Filming “The Adventures of Cliff Booth”
Pitt has been shooting “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” in Los Angeles for at least a month. He was first spotted on set on July 29 in costume as Booth, complete with a blond wig & mustache.
On August 19, he was seen in an even longer, messier blond wig than the look he sported in the 2019 film.
The new movie, directed by David Fincher from a script by Tarantino, is a spinoff of “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.” The original film, which earned Pitt the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, followed Booth, a stuntman for Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton, as the two navigated Hollywood at the end of the 1960s.
The film reimagined history with Booth & Dalton preventing Sharon Tate’s murder by members of the Manson family.
