Barbara Palvin is opening up about her health in an honest and vulnerable way. The model, and wife of actor Dylan Sprouse, updated fans about her recent surgery when she posted several photos on Instagram on Sunday, August 17.

Barbara Palvin Is Raising Awareness for Female Health

The first picture is of Palvin taking a selfie from her hospital bed. She is wearing a hospital gown. In the second image, she is lying in a hospital bed and hooked up to an IV drip, and in the background, Sprouse appears to be sitting on a chair. Other images show her posing with Sprouse, eating good food, and taking photos in her bikini. The images can be viewed on her Instagram page.

Palvin shared her thoughts in the caption. “Hi guys, it’s been a while!” she began her message. “Just a little update and a few thoughts for those out there who could relate to what I’m about to share – for some years now I’ve been dealing with the difficulties that can come with my periods.”

She went on to list the health problems she had been experiencing, writing, “Fatigue, severe pain, heavy and irregular flow, sleepless nights on the bathroom floor.”

Palvin was advised to “seek out an endometriosis specialist” and discovered she has endometriosis. She opened up about her shock at learning of her diagnosis with the disease, noting how she had regular visits to the gynecologist. She also revealed an important message about endometriosis, and that is that it “can’t be diagnosed with general examinations.”

The best course of action for Palvin was surgery. “So I went, and 3 months later I got operated on. Since then I finally experienced a period that was easier, and now I know the difference,” she shared.

Palvin continued, “If you suspect that you could have endometriosis I encourage you to find it out. It helped me a lot, and I’m grateful I did it. Early diagnosis and treatment are very important to prevent long-term complications, and now I’m more mindful about my body to act fast if needed.”

She ended her message with hope, revealing that she took three months to heal and was looking forward to getting back to work.
