Good news, “Wednesday” fans! Season 2 hasn’t even come out yet, but apparently it’s expected to be such a hit that the season has officially been renewed for Season 3!
Yes, before Wednesday Addams even has a chance to darken your screens again, she’s already locked in another year of twisted triumph. Netflix officially announced that “Wednesday” has been renewed, even before we know what our favorite characters will be up to this season. That’s how you know it’s going to blow us all away!
“We’re beyond thrilled she’ll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3,” said showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar in a statement. “It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe—one deadpan quip at a time.”
The exciting announcement was made on July 23, just two weeks ahead of the second-season debut on August 6. This time around, Season 2 will roll out in two parts. Part 1 in August and Part 2 in September, marking the show’s return after nearly a three-year wait.
Wednesday Addams Isn’t Done Yet
Let’s be real, the renewal of Season 3 isn’t a surprising move. The Tim Burton-led series starring Jenna Ortega as the gothic queen of side-eyes and cello solos crushed Netflix records when it first premiered. Season 1 drew over a whopping 252 million views in its first 90 days! 90 Days!!! This marked the most-watched English-language series on Netflix, second overall only to “Squid Game.”
The cast helped fuel that rocket, hands down! Alongside Ortega, we’ve seen the ever elegant and talented Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Emma Myers as Enid, and of course, Victor Dorobantu’s Thing stealing scenes one disembodied finger at a time.
Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria summed it up best. “The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts and sparking cultural trends. We are thrilled to deliver more of what the fans love.”
Season 3 Promises More Darkness & Maybe a Spin-Off?
What can we expect from Season 3? Well, the plot specifics are locked in a crypt for now. Because, well, we don’t really know what’s going to happen in Season 2. But showrunners have teased an even deeper dive into the Addams legacy.
“Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” Gough told Tudum. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.”
Millar added, “We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3.”
In other words, buckle up. We’re not just staying at Nevermore Academy; we might be headed straight into the Addams family crypt. Or, as Wednesday herself put it, “Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.” If this doesn’t make you excited, we don’t know what will!
There’s also talk of a potential spinoff, though no official details have emerged yet. “It’s something we’re definitely noodling on,” said Gough. Bajaria hinted there’s more ground to cover, saying, “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family.”

Long Live the Queen of Chaos
With Ortega returning, Burton directing part of Season 2, Lady Gaga making a special appearance, and new mysteries already on the way, “Wednesday” shows no signs of slowing down. Netflix didn’t just bet on a sequel; they’re building an empire. Whether it’s Pugsley enrolling at Nevermore or more Addams relatives crawling out of the shadows or out of the graves, Season 3 promises to be even stranger, spookier, and sharper than before.
Now the only question left is, can Season 3 outdo the pop culture storm of its debut? Judging by the early renewal, the Addams storm is definitely far from over.
